Yet another shim question

Today was the first time I ever checked a shim valve clearance, ever. I have searched the topic and I got a lot of great info here, so it went as expected... the tool kept slipping until I got the feel for it. Now I get it though. My curiosity is about a loose shim. I have one that measured at 0.1mm. That's looser than 0.08mm, but since it will only get tighter with time, is it alright to just leave it? Or is having it that loose harmful? I also have one that is tighter than .038mm (that's the smallest feeler I have), so I intend to replace that one. I was hoping I could just swap those 2 shims, but they are measuring at 263 and 264, so that won't work.

Is the loose shim exhaust or intake? If it is exhaust, then at is definitely okay. If its intake, is probably ok.

Definitely replace the tight shim.

As stated above, the exhaust valves are better off a little loose.

I just adjusted my valve clearances about a month ago. Went with the advice of the vets around here who recommend going above-spec as you did. After switching shims, my exhaust clearances measured .11 and .14mm. I was worried that the latter might be too much over, but haven't had any issues yet after a month of daily riding. I've noticed the engine feels a little smoother riding, and it also improved cold starting.

It's the left exhaust shim that's loose... so cool. I won't feel worried if I leave it. I'll definitely replace the tight one, though.
