I have been having some clutch problems, and have now i have had some time to take the clutch apart. when i took the clutch side cover off i was amazed to find that one of my clutch hub sleeve don't know the proper word for it so.... it the part that the bolt screws into that holds on the clutch spring had been broken off allowing the clutch spring bolt to wear almost a hole in to the clutch side cover, and wearing the clutch spring bolt head flat. upon looking further i found out that the prior owner had not used a oem lock washer (used a regular flat washer) to prevent the nut that holds the clutch hub sleeve and the primary drive gear on the engine from coming loose ( it wasn't even finger tight). now that being said the clutch hub sleeve has a bunch of cracks on and around the other parts that are still there that hold the clutch springs bolts on to the clutch hub sleeve. while looking on ebay for a clutch basket i saw one that had the same cracks  inside the clutch hub sleeve.

this it a pic for ebay of the one for sale and the cracks look like mine

Check my post, I just solved this identical problem. you will need a new washer. Those cracks you see are just rough spots from the casting process.

on order, was just pissed the little sh!t said that he just put in a new clutch. im just going to buy a whole different clutch basket, there was a lot of damage to the clutch cover,  and now i don't trust the clutch plates

i had to buy a newer clutch side cover, if i lived closer to the person that sold me the bike i would have choked him. but glad we both found out how to fix it, now just to wait for a few parts and it will be back on the road.

I caught mine before the damage was too bad. Luckly. Just a quick tightening and it was ok. Your plates should be just fine unless they look physically damaged. Mine is working great now, no more trying to find neutral while rolling lol
