Alas Mary, I believe 'twas my doing.

I've gotta say that compared to some other bike forums (not gonna mention them), i've found the tone and mood here are generally friendly and helpful, and there is alot of info to be had

I've found the same thing. I'd say, overall, this forum is a lot more mature and free of preconceived notions. Hell, it's barely even moderated and stuff just seems to "work itself out" without people going into "butt hurt, death threat, keyboard killing, whatever" mode.

We have gotten a few people that have stirred things up but they eventually just go away.

I posted a question about a different bike on a general BIG motorcycle forum...the way those guys talk to each other is just degrading. Bunch of hot-headed idiots and their "if it's not a Harley it's not a motorcycle" narrow-mindedness.

However, you can't make everyone happy. No matter HOW perfect something is, somebody will come along and femaledog and moan about SOMETHING.

Some say that he submitted a $20000 expense claim for some gravel

And that if he'd write a letter of condolance he would at least spell your name right.

That's interesting...I actually won a Harley last year in the 7-up / Captain America contest.  When I went to pick it up, the GM of the dealership was telling me I was gonna have to sell my "crotch rocket."  I told him that I'd prefer to keep it.  He didn't seem to happy with me about that, but that's his problem, and this GS is MY bike.

Good luck with the new bike dude. Sorry you feel a few people ruined your experience here but sometimes as in the real world personalities can clash even on forums. Ride safe.

Ha! Hawke, when I had my little cafe'd Honda CL175, people called it a crotch bottle rocket.

When Flick got his GSXR integrated mirrors I got that alot! How fast does that gixxer go? Well it says 135 on the speedometer "oh I thought gixxers went faster than that" "It's a GS500F oh it's still a cool crotch rocket" what happened to the SMH emoticon?

How funny because I get ask that like 2/3 people. It goes something like this..

person: nice bike.
me: thanks, do you ride?
person: yes or no..how fast does it go
me: (this usually kills the conversation for me) fast enough for me (then I leave)

I guess I might just be getting old but speed is no longer the thrill for me, I just enjoy riding.

Sorry for OT but it looks like the OP is not coming back anyways.

ive owned 2 harleys while a member here. caught a bit of hell from pandy. albeit she was nice lol. had a 2003 883c sportie. ( the annie bike) did some work to that. aka supercharged it. pulled that stuff off b4 letting it go. ( sold it) and an old school fxs lowrider 212k on the engine. and yes it did leak. 1 it had an assload of miles on it. and 2 it was an amf.

The FIRST question they ask is usually an indication of what is Most important to them.

How fast does it go? THEY are concerned with speed.
How much did it cost? Their MAIN thing is money.
How comfy is it? For them it is comfort?
How far can you go before you need to fill up? For them it's about economy.

So, the other day I was at Staples printing off pictures for an assignment. I"m sitting at the desk cutting them to size (they have a straight line cutter I can't seem to do that to save my life) and as we call them over at BBO forum (the dude) sits down next to me.
"You ride"
"Uh, Yeah" (I'm still in my jacket with my helmet on the table)
" I used to have a bike like yours"
"oh really, I like that he is a little guy good on fuel" (hoping to end conversation)
"Yeah, I got rid of it and got another bike"
"Really, what did you get" (trying to call his bluff"
"UHM, err a honda CB950 RR"
"Must be a hot bike" (trying hard not to roll my eyes)
"Yeah I had to lay it down yesterday"
"oh I guess your gear saved you don't look bad"
"uhm, errr yeah I think it was an ICON yeah that's it ICON"
"well have a great day!"

Great conversation!

I smell stank pooty...and I don't even know what happened.  People need to grow a pair and stop being do damn sensitive.

This board has very lax moderation...until you cross the line.  People know when they go too far.  Nice custom title ourea.  You deserve it.  Wear it proudly.
