Geez, Tough crowd! hahaha   :nono:

Well, I might as well say it now ahead of time instead of being bashed IFFF I decide to sell.

"""Considering""" selling my bike and upgrading to an SV650.
Still not 100% certain tho.
Enjoy the bike, but basically not enough power for my riding style or my height and weight. (6ft2 and around 235pnds)

So, based on "Other local riders" who know wayyyyy more then I do.
They told me to list it at $2500 and I would probably get around $2000 to $2250.
and yes I was shocked at the price they told me too!
I actually asked them a few times after, are you Sure?? lol

Plan to go with their advice as Yes the motorcycle market here in north east Pa is rather high in price!!!!

but not without consideration.
Bike is visually and mechanically perfect now except for One problem I plan to fix first. (annoying valve ticking that im suspicious isnt just noise)
and then toss in my extra Running 89 motor and every single part I have for the bike for a Firm price that I list, negotiable with just the bike.

thats IFFF I decide to sell and upgrade to an SV650.

So theres my Possible listing before anyone goes bashing it IF it shows up. hahaha

If you have recently checked your valves and adjusted them, don't open it back up before you sell it.  These bikes are mechanically loud.  Valve ticking is probably normal.

If it seemed Minor, I wouldnt bother.
But
1. I dont wanna sell something to even a stranger that may be a bigger problem then suspected.
2. I dont wanna give them any reason to bother me with haggling or to have to think twice before buying.

Not to mention if they hear it, it would be kind of hard to convince someone unfamiliar with the GS that its only valve noise.

Once the bike warms up pretty good (more then just letting it idle awhile) it ticks when its idle.
Specifically, it sounds like the shim bucket is dancing around.
Even my friend on a newer vulcan can hear it next to me at a light.

Still have to keep thinking if I want to or not, and order a new rear tire on Weds.

So I have time to check the valves out.
Which is easy as pie for me, and anything wrong... I have plenty of extra parts to fix it.

not that im posting for troubleshooting help.

just saying why I plan to check it over.

I know exactly what you mean! I've done three moped projects from junk/non-running to screamin' blasts of fun under 35mph.  But I had to sell them because the woman of the house has this rule, where we can only have two non-running vehicles at a time... and I was using them and that rule to put-off doing the 97 ranger sitting in the garage (It ran, but wasn't really road worthy...)  :icon_rolleyes:

[ramblings]my girlfriend wish she could tell me that! but she's getting the shredped bug just as bad as me now hahah

I really enjoyed building my drz400s project, but was miffed i didn't take it to 100%. I keep in touch in with the new owner, and he buttoned it up and its running well. After knowing that, I felt pretty good with the r&d and time i put into it. Which made me want to build And finish an engine even more. After looking at building up my drz400sm, i couldn't fit the bill.. then a toptank garelli popped up about an hour away. smaller, cheaper, less risk, it was a done deal.

I've got my 77 garelli ssxl in project state with damn near every part i could find for it. Finally got my hands on a true vm20(mikuni still recovering from the tsunami), and that's the last big part i was needing. Just need to buy a grip of jets, and a temp gauge. Then just a bit more research on timing the polini 70cc kit. After that time to get greasy! Aaand Theeen after putting the kit on tuning, and breaking it in. Time to modify the clutch to get rid of that shitty rubber clutch and install then tune my 2 shoe racing clutch! [/ramblings]

Sitting downstairs in the shop!! Got this one from a kid a couple towns over that stumbled onto my WTB craigslist ad. I didn't think i'd get any bites with that ad, but am pumped to be stoked to add a 2 speed reed valve ped to the quiver. She's patiently waiting for a solid couple days of work. Needs a new sprag clip, clutches recorked, and top end and carb cleaning. Got new sprag and rings ordered. Doing more research on clutch pads before placing an order.
