I'M TIRED OF STUPID CRAIGSLIST SELLERS WHO DON'T ANSWER EMAILS. IT IS SO FRUSTRATING. AND THE STUPID LIARS ON CRAIGSLIST THAT PUT UP FAKE BIKE ADS. GET MY HOPES UP AND CRUSH THEM.

I'm sorry. I'm just frustrated at the moment.

GOD SHAM IT.

One thing to consider is that they get a lot of emails so its best to keep the initial email inquiry short and to the point. for example "I'm interested in the GS500 you have on craigslist, could you give me some more info? My number is 123-456-7890. Thanks,"
or something along those lines. If you type up a three paragraph message they will probably just ignore it if they have 50 emails to sort through. Also they almost always respond sooner if you include a phone number, it's just a good indicator that you aren't spamming them. That being said, there are a ton of spam posts on craigslist.  :technical: Generally if it sounds too good to be true its just spam so flag it and move on.

I bet i know the one you're talking about.

Is it the red one for sale?

Dealing on craigslist, I email and move on.  If I don't hear from them I forget about it.  Usually in my case though I end up with the 'suuuuuure come get it right now' response, which is why I have too much junk and avoid even looking at listings.

Ninjeff: it was in regards to the red GS that the daughter was selling. The picture had a nice red mustang in the background. But the ad was taken down yesterday. :/

Flux: Maybe I should start doing that rather than sending the long emails I do...hmmmph...

Yamahonkawazuki: That's a pretty wacky story. Honestly I wouldn't have even asked about an 09 civic for $2600. that reeks of more fishiness than the inside of a whale.

Craigslist is a wasteland.  I had a new dishwasher that came with the new house.  It was a crappy basic one, so I put it on craigslist for $50.  I had more flakes call me.  People calling saying they were on the way and not show, people asking 50 questions, people not understanding the comment "no scratches or dings, like new because it is new."

I got so sick of craigslist phktards I ended up giving the dishwasher to a local church.

I gave up on craigslist a long time ago to say the least...

I here you.

I bought some parts on CL. One guy was so glad I showed up I got a motor, full fairing, 2006 front forks (one leaked a little so new seals), swing arms, air boxes, carbs and a pile of other stuff for $200. Just because we has glad SOMEONE FINALLY SHOWED UP!

I've been jerked around, too by sellers. One guy had a bare 2006 motor on for over a year. $350. Offered $250. Still on CL and still not sold. Motor was sitting for a few years so you really don't know what was originally wrong with it so taking a chance on a motor you can't start up.

There are some good and some bad on CL.

I did buy Junior and Trey on CL as well as the 2006 parts bike.

Like others do - if they respond, OK. If they don't, I move on. Its not as if i NEED that extra parts bike.

Tis the way of the business!

I've been pushed and pulled, both as a buy and seller. You learn when someone is serious and when its a waste of time.

I have bought all of my motorcycles from craig, he's a real cool guy.

My boss used to love playing pranks on this one guy at work.  He listed some 22" chromed out rims with this poor guy's # and typed 'call me if you want them so you can come pick them up -FREE!  I just want them gone.'  His phone was ringing non-stop with 'say fool lemme come get dem right nahw!'

Baltimore,...that link is HILARIOUS!  There's one on there about delivering some rocks,...TOO FUNNY!  Thanks for sharing that!

I have sold a few bikes on craigslist but not without drama. I use it for the scrappers.

I had a nasty couch. Posted on cl with full disclosure, gone in 3 hours. Who needs 800 got junk?

Guy at work called a 'sexual dysfunction' line and gave his name and number as Another fellow and asked to be called back later.

The callers kept calling him for weeks. Trying to sell him erection treatments and the like.

Best prank ever.

I guess it depends where you live.  Most sellers here include phone numbers and usually tell shoppers not to leave emails.  Several sellers, both private and dealers, have told me if they don't list a bike on CL it doesn't get sold.  They have stopped using newspapers and pennysavers.  So here in Buffalo CL is the place to go, for better or worse!

Craigslist is a funny place sometimes. I bought 2 sets of exhausts from a guy that lived about a half hour from me. Our schedules kept interfering so he told me "Here's my address, I'll leave them by the back door. Just leave the cash under the floor mat of my Jeep." I was so amazed that he trusted a complete stranger like that, I gave him a couple extra bucks.

I was selling an 84 Honda CR60 for only $275 obo. It ran, but looked like crap cosmetically. I had so many people say "It looks rough.......what about $75?" The best was one guy emailed asking "what is absolute LOWEST you would sell that Honda for?"

To which I replied "What's the absolute MOST you're willing to pay?"

Ah... a True negotiator.

My fav is.... "you've got to do better than that." No matter what they come back with repeat "you've got to do better than that". Little do they know they Should counter with "How much better do I have to do?"

And it can be used in a Lot of situations besides money and selling. Work done in your home by tradies, reports submited in an office, assigments done by students... all of them.... you've got to do better than that. Magic.

I like when people don't read posts on CL.

Perfect example...had a 7 year old sears weedwacker with a Zama diaphram carb die.  Too expensive to fix.  Posted "don't e-mail, don't knock on door, just come and get it I live here....sitting on curb."  What do I get, about 10 e-mails and 2 knocks on the door.  You still have it?  I just pointed to the curb and said "It's right there pal!"

I love the general public.  Someone finally did take it though after 2 hours.
