I purchased a 1999 gs500e over the winter. And i took it out of storage last week and have been getting my first rides on it.

There seems to be an issue with the throttle not closing fast. I rev up to say 6000 and let go and the throttle comes down much slower then my previous bikes.

I have checked and made sure the hand grip snaps back and it is not rubbing against anything

Also i noticed when i open the throttle there is a delay and the accelaration seems chopy and not smooth.

I am not sure if this is just how the gs500 are?

The bike looks like it was laid down on the ride side previously. Could it be when it went down the throttle cable got a little messed up?

Or is it the carb not opening and closing properly.

Any help will be great

Old gas?  Dirty carbs.........Hanging idle is an indicator of an air leak.  How long did it sit?

Very curious about this also. My bike does the exact same thing. I've cleaned the carbs, installed new fuel lines with a fuel filter, new gas, oil, plugs and air filter. When riding the bike the revs come down soooooo slow. Almost like you didn't even let off the throttle. Kind of dangerous. I'll follow this thread and hopefully we can get some help.

Bike sat for about 3-4 months but it was doing same thing prior to storage
