Love you guys

no homo. I just wanted to let you guys (and ladies) know how ridiculously happy this forum and its members have made me with my bike. The gs500 was an amazing motorcycle to start with; it taught me (and still teaches me) how to be an effective, safe rider. I was beginning to become slightly dissatisfied with the performance of my gs500, and then I found this place. You guys have been so helpful in inspiring confidence and providing hoards of information for me to, fix, modify, and maintain my little gs all by myself, be it through the wiki or the forum. I couldn't be happier with my bike these days. After a few more minor mods and a bit of fine tuning to the carbs, I will have pretty much done every reasonable performance upgrade to the bike (as well as a few cosmetic), short of swapping the front end or fitting a different rear wheel. Sometimes I just sit on it, even when i have nowhere to go and just look at it and smile, often not being able to contain my laughter. I'm just glad this place exists. I look forward to being here a long time.

vELKOMMEN TO ZE NüTHAUS. btw can also change hte front gearing from say a 16t to a 15 or even a 14t. for NOTCIEABLE acceleration improvements.

howabout removing stock airbox/filters and installing whats known as a k&n lunchbox filter?

I'm tellin you, I've done every reasonable performance upgrade, including the lunchbox air filter.

Glad I'm not the only one  :laugh: Of course, I have always loved motorcycles and I used to just sit on my dads way before I could reach the ground and always dreamed of the day I would have my own motorcycle. I love my GS!

275!!!!!!!!!!!  :icon_eek: HOw much are you paying for your bike! I did a 5 year loan on Flick but it was only 60 monthly payments. Even if it was weekly that would be 5 and 1/2 years?

Well, that was a big fat typo!.  More like 27.  The '5' slipped in there somehow.  Maybe I got confused with my mortgage  :cookoo:

EDIT:  Previous used bike was a money pit.  Poured so much into it, that I finally sold at a slight loss and decided to go new.

True that!  I spent $500 on my '98, and all it needs now is a valve job.

My recent lesson on keeping a cheap bike purchase cheap: Make sure the chain and tires are good.  Those alone will set you back $300.
