well, after a year and much trepidation and making of excuses, I rode to and from work for the first time. It's a 70 mile round trip. only 1 scary moment (came into a corner a little hotter than I wanted... leaned it a bit more and did just fine)

great way to wind down after a stressful day at the office.

craig... you're kinda in my area... so you can understand why I was hesitant to take on the morning rush. lots of crazies on va 29... fortunately i'm far enough outside the city that I don't have to deal with the worst bits.

Tell me about it....I take 95 in Maryland for about 15 miles, then 495, then 295 for another 10 miles to work.......

Where does Va 29 run through?  I am familiar with 66 and rte 50.....

I come north from culpeper. 29 runs through warrenton, gainesville, centerville, all the way up to rosslyn.

fortunately, I get off before gainesville... south of 66.

I've got 20,000+ commuter miles (22 miles round trip), about half of that on the GS.  Don't ever let your guard down.  The cagers are out to get you.

My commute to downtown Cincinnati is 11.5 mikes and the good lord watches out for me every week since I damn near get clipped about once every 3 days. Dislike Interstate 71. Local roads are in dangerous neighborhoods.

My trip to work is pretty hairy as well. I mean I have to keep it choked the whole way cause it takes 5-friggin'-minutes!  :flipoff:

3 miles and you take the motorcycle? Friggin hell dude, by a deadly treadly and push those damn pedals man.  :thumb:

I highly doubt your bike is warm right up by the time you turn it off. Thus you are always subjecting your bike to higher oil pressures.

I ride my cb450s to work when the weather is permitting.  Its 100kms round trip.  It is so nice to unwind afterwork with a ride.  Its relaxing and riding makes me hungry.  :)

Tru Dat.  One of our brilliant city councilmen said "It's like a ride through jurassic park." He must live in a posh Mt. Lookout palace.

ohgood

keep in mind, the closer to each hour mark = more craziness from the cages

around :15-:45 minute marks of each hour are much nicer times to ride, if you can swing it.  :thumb:

Well today I fired up the GS after a week of sitting, took a bit for the engine to catch on and rev up on choke but was just fine.

i live in the retirement capital of the united states... The Villages florida. buncha blind old bastards down here driving for 68 miles with their left blinker on... only to make a right... motorcycle hell. they can't even see the speedo, look behind them or make rational quick decisions, much less wipe their own ass... (retail management has tainted me  :icon_mrgreen:) I bet your longer traverse is safer  :icon_lol:
