Bike Dripping when Starting

Hey Guys,

Recently my bike has been acting a bit strange. When left overnight, starting it back up takes a bit more of the choke. Also, when I right the bike up to start riding, it begins dripping out of the bottom hose in this picture: http://i.imgur.com/J9zsG.jpg It only does so for a short time then the bike acts completely normally. If I stop riding and start it up again in a few hours, it doesn't have the difficulty starting up or dripping. This doesn't always happen, but the frequency is rising. Any ideas?

I assume it's dripping fuel out of the bigger of the two tubes that are clamped there.  This is because too much fuel is running into the float bowls, and it's overflowing into the airbox.  This is caused by improperly set float heights, or stuck open needle valves.

Oh and that airbox drain tube is supposed to be capped off.  Otherwise it allows dirty air to be sucked back through the the tube and through the carbs.  Not really a big deal AFAIK, but just an FYI.

Oh yeah, put a container under the airbox hose, remove cap, let crud drain away, replace cap. 

Progressively getting to start =  valves too tight. Time to check them. And adjust as necessary.

all of the above info is good.  Plus, what position is your petcock in when left overnight?...."On, Pri, Res"?  Best to leave it in the "on" position so you arent stressing the needle valves too much.

I don't switch the petcock around, it's just left at "On"

i had the same problem a couple of weeks ago cept i have the k&n lunchbox so it just filled that up and spilled all over the engine.

anyway i started off with the float height adjustment. less than a mm off so i adjust those and retested but it was still happening. then i checked the float needles and bingo. replaced both and that did the trick. good as new.

the only visible sign that i could see on the needles was an indent off the brass seat. wasn't much but it was enough to allow gas to spill through
