Given that the GS500 won't even reach 110mph in a 1/4 mile according to posted stats, changing gearing should help get you a slightly faster time. It still won't have any effect on the overall power output of the bike though, so please stop relating gearing to the amount of 'top end' the bike has, lest you be REALLY taunted by a group of people with more disdain for your obvious lack of knowledge.

Because I think the members of this forum have been forthright and patient with you, whereas the people you appear to be hoping to impress are bound to enjoy belittling you to no end.

True. Idk I guess until i can get another bike ill just practice slow passes

If you wanna live your life a 1/4 mile at a time...you gotta ask Toretto for permission first...

Excellent! You recognized the quote.

I like the response from Torque (2004), though (also from the makers of F&F)...http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0329691/quotes?qt=qt0363107

The fastest GS500 will have nothing on any inline 4 from my experience. Its just setting yourself up for disappointment.

If you're race launching the bike, it should never be below power peak on a GS500. Re-gearing would probably make the process a little easier, and require less clutch-slip though. If I were building a drag bike, I'd probably reduce the gearing a little, and map the gearing chart against the power band.

Belittle? Hardly. I asked a question and got nothing but arguement and contradiction. just wanted to play and upgrade a lil the sprockets like twenty bucks

Dude. Seriously. No one is trying to tell you not to change your sprockets. We are just cautioning you that you shouldn't expect miracles front a GS...like running a 13s 1/4 mile.

Well, *technically* you asked; So I think I'd like to build my Gs500f to the max. What's the max potential of these bikes? Any numbers or slips?

"to the max" (in my opinion anyway) means just that ... so I think everyone was just sayin' that unless you have unlimited funds (or dont care how much it costs) to "max" the GS is goona cost you and the ROI for that will be negligible.  It would definately be a labour of love :)  But if you do max your GS and bore it out, piston, sprockets, pipe, jet, intake, port, polish, max max max...let us know...I'd wanna see that!  :thumb:

Exactly! We all want to see what it takes to turn a $5k (new) Standard into a $15k (new) Supersport...like your custom manufactured aluminum frame, which inline 4 you would use to replace the original parallel twin, etc. If you start modding the hell out of your GS to "max it out" we need PICS!!

There is a guy on here who 'maxed' his GS500 for salt flats racing, but that's about it. He managed to get the bike to put out several times its original power output, but at what cost I couldn't tell you. More than $20, that's for sure LOL. But he wanted to break the LSR (Land Speed Record) in a category where the current record holder was a 2-stroke V-4 Grand Prix bike, so if he did it I imagine his ROI was priceless :)

In fact if the plane can be in a dive while you toss it it will be even faster.

That's the real meaning of "jetting" it ... he he.

Cool.
Buddha.

Whoa, buddha forgot about terminal velocity.  While plane in dive is fast, and theoretically throwing something forward makes it faster, the bike will hit terminal velocity as soon as it is thrown out because it has terrible aerodynamics, while plane is silky smooth.

Just leave the bike in the plane while nose diving with engines in full blast!  quarter mile in 1/4 mpm!  mpm = miles per mach, aka speed of sound.
