Can any one please tell me what the electronic pieces on my carbs are for? They are attached to my vacuum Lines, and I assume they are for emissions maybe. What happens when I adjust them?
I have an 05 500f. Thanks to anyone that can help

A picture of specifics would help.

There are 2 that I recall.

One is a throttle position sensor. Don't touch that.

Another is a vacuum operated switch for the PAIR system. No need to touch that either.

Your question of "What happens if I adjust them" is one of why adjust them, why are you adjusting them and what do you expect to happen?

I like the "I have no idea what that part is so I'll start fiddling with it" syndrome. A sure way to make anything not work.

Thanks for helping me out. Yes there is two sensors and I can tell the two apart. I see the vacuum operated switch. I mostly meant the throttle positioning sensor as your saying. I seen that you can position it a little advanced or delayed like a cam angle sensor on a car.

Now as far as adjusting them I didn't know what they did, I just have some minor idling issues I was wondering if that could possibly have anything to do with the idle

Clean and balance your carbs if that dosnt work suspect your valve shims getting tight .easy check on inlet valves is see there is no carbon around the inlet valve while you have carbs off .this will at least tell you if inlet valve is tight

Don't touch them. No one really knows how to set them and what they do. "Timing adjustments for emissions" is all most of us know. Not much data anywhere on how to correctly screw around with them.

Idling issues are elsewhere, as mentioned ^ ^ ^

Appreciat it guys I guess I'll leave them alone even though it's driving m nuts what exactly they are controlling lol. I'll take a look at my valves when I pill my carbs of again.

Thanks guys
