Some S***head recently tried to steal my 2007 GS500F, and he destroyed all three of my locks. I've been looking around, and can't seem to find a full set of them that will all work with the same key. It would be nice if they were cheap, but I can buy brand new if I need to, but I'm concerned with compatibility with my bike, and that they will all work with the same key.

I've found this, (below) but will it work with my bike? and if I get a new seat lock can i make the key work with the new lock?

I'm a somewhat new rider (this is my second bike), so it would be great to hear from experienced GS500 riders on this issue. I was surprised I havent found more info on the subject.

Any help would be great!

Check the part-out threads in the B/S/T subforum here and ebay. I've seen them pop up from time to time.

If you can't get all 3 together, you can get them keyed alike by a locksmith. You could even do it yourself if you study up on how locks work and are handy with small tools.

Hey thanks guys. It's good to know that they can  be re-keyed by a locksmith. I went ahead and just bought a full set of the three locks on ebay. I even found 2007 ones. Did I pay too much? ($130 shipped)

That's OK for a price. You may have issues removing your lock from your top triple. There are security snap-off screws. The Haynes manual says how to get that sucker out of there. I have tried on some spare triples with locks and could never get the screws out.

You might find it easier to get a top triple that has no lock (already correctly removed) so you can install the new one easily.
Post a want-to-buy if you need a top triple without a lock. A few of us parts whores have extras.

I was planning on getting a repair manual already. Guess I'll get the Haynes one! this looks like it might be a bit of a project installing the ignition lock. have your really not been able to remove the screws? what happens- do they strip, or are they just too tight to remove?
