International Shipping: Can we work together?

Wondering what we can do. We have members all over the  world.
Unfortunately, I see some parts I want on ebay or from dealers around the world and either:
1. They will not ship to the USA (but will the rest of the world)
2. They charge a fortune to ship to the US

I have shipped parts to Australia often because they can't get decent postage rates from a dealer.

Would others be interested in forming some cooperative where parts can be shipped locally within a country to a GStwins member. Then that member sends it on to someone else in another country?

International shipping is pretty easy through the postal system. Usually it bypasses customs when from one person to another. I do know FedEx and UPS are a nightmare for customs and should never be used (even from the USA to Canada! But Canada to USA by UPS is cheap - go figure?)

I know some parts are cheaper here in the US and can be dropped in an envelope for a couple dollars as opposed to highway robbery for shipping from the dealers.

I've seen some tail plastics and other parts I'd like for my bikes on ebay.co.uk but those dealers do not ship to the US.

Anyone else interested?
I think countries we should cover are UK, USA, Canada, Aus/NZ, Germany, Spain.

Yea if you buy something and get it shipped to my address in Australia (P O Box) I can forward ship it on to any other address you like. I also work for Australia Post. :thumb: As long as it is not a prohibited item there should not be an issue doh!! :cookoo:

Also if there are a few items coming here from a parts whore  :whisper: it would be cheaper to ship to 1 address and then split and passed on to each member.
I am not interested in anything you have to say
Don't bother talking to me, I will not answer you

i've been pondering this kinda thing for awhile .. usually it gets put on the back burner in my mind again... however .. i'm all for it ... also my missus brother lives in the uk and could quite possibly be prevailed on to assist .. for low volume transactions .. if it was frequent he may request a minor 'assistance fee' .. he is a good bloke and trustworthy ... just sometimes a little mercenary  :icon_rolleyes:

in about 2 months one of my close mates will be moving to NZ also and i reckon he be ok with a few bits here and there... schedule on his time though..

got a few other thoughts and possibilities in my head too .. but i'll leave them sit just for now to see how this overall mission pans out ..  :thumb:

Sounds good.

I was thinking parts could be bought and shipped to the local person. Then that person could re-ship it and I'd always be willing to pay for their trouble.

I used to order stuff from M and P in the UK.....until their shipping went up to 85 gpb (or is it gbp?) even for small stuff.

I've seen some nice "E" tail plastics in the UK but they only ship to the UK.

Let's keep talking about this. I think we can all help each other.
