From my crash this summer, I've got a dent in the tank about a half-inch deep from the bar-end pushing into the tank.  The paint is fine, but there are the two small impressions from the bar-end and the ridge on the outside of the grip.  Do you think this would be a fairly easy fix if I take it to a body shop?

Thx. :thumb:
I broke it... I bought it...

I have never had any luck with removing small dents in tanks only large ones. It is possible that a paintless dent removal shop could push them out, depending on the location of the dent if they could get tool to it. A body shop could pull it out by welding pins to it, grinding and sanding it smooth, then repaint the whole tank. It would probably cost more than a used one on ebay. Either way it doesn't cost anything to take it and have them look at it.
Common sense in not very common.

Try a plunger but don't expect to much. It has never worked on my truck.
I think dgyver was right that e-bay might be the cheapest route.

If its just "the look" you could try covering with a simple bits'n'bobs sticker or similar and matching up the non-damaged side. Small dents can be a bugger to get out.

Don't bother calling "Dent Wizard" (paintless dent removal).  When I askecd about repairing a  small dent they said MC tanks are double walled and that their tools would not work.

Those paintless dent removal guys nver seem to want business!

I've never seen a double walled motorcycle tank, and the GS one sure isn't.
