hmmm, I was trying to respectfully withdraw and leave the gun debate alone as it really is not the place for it, but I'm not sure where I "raged" about anything, I simply pointed out that I thought guns were not the answer and even conceded that I would not be able to convince anyone otherwise.  I also like how you can criticise my lineage without even knowing who I am, big call that one.

Hey Addy,

Before saying Aust is a place where people are "descendants of prisons" it pays to know a little first. Because, you know, you don't want to be picking one small subset of people and using that as some kind of description of a place. Cause, it could then be said the USA is a place where people are related to nutjobs like Marshall Applewhite, Jeffrey Dahmer, Charles Manson, Ted Bundy and so on. That while Technically, yes, there are people who are related to these people, it paints a Misleading Picture.

Fact is, very Very VERY few people in this country are descendants of prisoners. Most come from people who migrated here to make a better life for themselves - just like those who went to the USA. And of those who were prisoners... sure some were not nice people - but - a LOT were sent here (sentenced to Transportation) for such heinous crimes as stealing a loaf of bread to feed themselves.

The Abos don't need to build casinos. They get plenty of free money without gambling establishments.

I'm beginning to understand. My humor is not appreciated by you. Sorry.

"Every joke or bit of humor in a forum is to be taken literally and as a personal attack even if it is a complement or not even directed at you".

You have chased me away - at least in any thread you are posting in. No more pissing matches until there is snow on the ground so I can write my name.

Another "this is a pissing contest" implied by you.

In actuality, I have NOT chased you away in every thread I have posted in in which you have too. I don't see me chasing you away in the "Which Manual" thread, the "Unbelievable Spark Plug" thread, the "which bike thread" and so on. Me thinks you might be looking into things too much. Being Selective in your recollections. You might think this is a pissing contest (why else go out your way to tell me you have more posts than me while I was registered here first WTF, why else go back through three years of my posts to find one to make a point), but I'm just having fun.

He gets that way sometimes. Remember where he is from: AUSTRALIA!

That's where:
* People are descendents of British prisoners
* Toilets swirl the wrong way
* FOSTERS is their beer
* They cook things on those skinny female dolls (not Ken, the other one)
* They are always upside down
* Their seasons are backwards
* Aborigines haven't learned how to build casinos like our Native Americans have.

So of course you can expect some rage from him rather than a polite "Please...."

Think I have mentioned this before?

I am German Descent
Toilets actuall swirl the right way
Dont drink Fosters (its for the tourists only)
Yes we do cook on the Bar B
I dont live upside down? Look at your map
Our seasons are correct and the US does not rule the world
Abo's dont need Casinos as Mister said because we give them everything for free :cookoo:

My rage has nothing to do with being an Aussie its got to do with the attitude of the we are right and you are wrong mentality of a few yankies. :kiss3:

HOLY SH!T.... I haven't checked this thread for a while. When I posted the "insert gun law argument here" I expected a few "but guns don't solve it" and "we can't have those bad dangerous things that grow arms legs and load themselves and shoot innocent people in my country"  followed by a few "you idiots, guns don't kill people. Husbands that come home early do." and the staple " it my constitutional right". I really didn't think it would get to the part where we talk about how all aussie's are descended from "criminals" and drink Foster's (which for the record, sucks hairy A$$hole). Maybe now we can talk about how the US saved there hides in WWII and we got to screw all their women while they were out being shot up by the Japanese. (hence the retalitory term "seppo") But wait, if we do that we have to talk trash on the Japanese that my brothers in 1st battallion were killing. But then we would run into some paradox where the thread would only continue to repeat itself due to the fact that we all support a Japanese company and "guns " were  used in those battles and would eventually "solve" something. But...
Friendly fire, isn't. But it's the most accurate. Semper Fi

On my mother's side most of the people that came to Australia were criminals. One had several wives in different countries and brought them all out to Australia. One had a peg leg and was a convicted smuggler, kind of funny that. Dad's side not sure why they came out. I'm fourth Generation Australian, my descendants are Irish (the criminal side) and Scottish. My Scott side family name dates back to 1066 AD and they were land owners at the time. Where did all that money go? I wish there was more now. I could use it.

What was my point.... umm don't know. I enjoy my twisted family history. Though I do worry about how many people in my lovely country feel they deserve everything handed to them and then have the hide to complain when they contribute nothing to society but bleed it like mad. I suppose it happens in every country but I'm only concerned with mine.

Guns are fine. I'd love an old flint stock pistol. That would be so fun in road rage situation. pulling up at the lights, pouring in your gun powder, loading your shot.Would let people know you were serious. Or a 6 foot broadsword. You cut me off I cut your car off. Wham!!! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

I need more sleep.

My Mk2 Escort always has a camera rolling whenever I drive and the bike has one fitted to its fork too. Sometimes I even remember to turn it on or charge it.
The honda and Z are the only vehicles without cameras  and I plan to fix that soon too.

Lots of people carrying recording cameras now.  When I bicycle commuted I had three, one rear ward facing one forward bike mounted and one helmet mounted.  Glad I did as almost a year to the day ago I was struck from behind and the DVRs caught everything on camera.  Needless to say the driver and witness accounts were fairy tales and after now seeing the video the insurance company has to concede their position is not what they though it was.  My version of events is accurate to a T since it is a transcription of the video/audio.  Would I ride without DVRs now, not on your life.

And your choice of camera is?
On the moto I use a Contour Roam.  HD gives good quality picture, wide angle (170 degrees) catches a good perspective and also removes the need for a rear camera as on the helmet it captures the picture in the rear view mirror.  Even though its a small picture, it only needs to establish a chain of events.  A 32Gb card I think from memory can capture about 16hrs of HD footage.  Only has a 2 hour battery life, but I also carry a portable charger for it for longer rides which I do not record all of, just interesting bits.

I also use my bicycle GPS (Garmin 705) to record all my riding, just gives me good info on times, dates, where I was, also handy for a more accurate speed than the speedo, has mapping functions etc, records at one second intervals.  Great for long rides that I map out on Google maps, I can convert the Google map route to a GPX file, upload it to the unit and follow it without getting lost along the way.  Just did a weekend ride with a group following the GPS/GPX route.  Aside from a few riders jumping ahead and having to be chased down for missing turns, the route on the map was brilliant.

The bicycle cameras were only SD, hence I felt the need for more of them.  They were slightly larger than lipstick cams, say about the size of two C cell batteries each.  Very light, 2 hour battery life and with an 8Gb SD card about 8 hours of recording.  Sorry I cannot recall the brand or model as I can longer find them online anymore.

Truckies at work are using something called Car Cam. Suction cup to the windscreen, plug into the cig lighter. Constantly records on a loop. If something happens unplug and you are left with the last 10 minutes. That's what I was told by them. I think this is it http://www.carcam.com.au and ebay results show heaps for cheaps http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_nkw=car+camera

I have cameras in both my ute and my car. Records in 1080 HD and works a treat. Have already had it used as evidence at Nerang Police Station to catch one of those little pricks that thinks it a good idea to point green lasers at your face while you are driving. You really should not point a laser in the face of the person in the car behind you when they have a camera tracking your every move and have a perfect shot of your numberplate. :cookoo:

these ones are similar in operation, but they also have GPS and G-sensors on the X/Y/Z planes.  when a jolt is detected that exceeds a set G force (user set), it quarantines a set time amount (user set) out of the loop for later recollection.  very nifty.  wish they had a weatherproof one for bikes, I'd buy it in an instant.
