"screwed" on JIS tools

So, I finally got delivery from rjrtools on "vessel" supposedly JIS type driver heads.

and to me, they dont look ONE BIT DIFFERENT from the standard "PH1", PH2 hex attachment things I got in my existing socket wrench set with screwdriver bits.

I'm feeling reaaally pissed off right now.
There seems almost no diference!!  The "depth" of the cross-thingie seems identical... they both have a little flat 45-degree section between the 4 blades... I feel so ripped off right now!!!

points out, that there is also a TEENIE TINY difference  of width in each blade thingie.

Thing is though... some of the screws have been a little tweaked now, so there's stil a wiggle.
And even the ones that arent... are like welded in there. Using a small impact driver... just messes up the intact screws now!

I did also try grippy plier things.. no go with that either!

sod this, I aint drilling em out.
Guess I'll attempt to put the #$@ thing back together as-is, and find a restrictor for the K&N.

Arrrg! What a pain in the rear and waste of riding time (and money!)this has been!!   :mad:

Put some more force into your hits with the impact, and make sure you are holding the carb solidly.  Also use some deep creep or PB blaster the night before your attempt.  If you would have used the JIS bits in the first place before you destroyed the heads it would have worked much better.  Vice grips are the next step.  Also, you can use a dremel or something similar to cut slots into the screws, and then hammer in a slotted bit and use an electric drill chucked up to the bit to back it out.  I used that method successfully with some very tough screws on a really old carb.  If all that fails, drilling and EZ-out will work.

That picture actually does a good job of illustrating how different they are.  What you call a teeny tiny difference looks like a significant different in shape to me.  The tips of the JIS bits are twice as wide as the phillips bit.  I'm not sure what you were expecting, considering the shape of the screw looks pretty similar to phillips to begin with.

Just offering this,...not completely 100% on the whole story but when my carb screws piss me off I just throw the whole assembly into the back yard yelling obscenities,....

ok kidding, I turn my drill driver down low on tq# let it hit it.  I'll turn up the tq and keep going, letting the 'hammer' do the work.  Usually this works on even the most pita carb screws.

Lemme put it this way: It didnt slip out (I think).
It just deformed the screw head.

From which I decide that they must be chemically welded to the carb :-}
