Okay,

well here is my pi$$ed off about a ticket moment. In the state of Florida you are not allowed to drive with your handicapped placard hanging off the rear view mirror. But, when parked it has to be there. The other day I was at the library for 40 minutes just as I was turning off the engine my friend from Boston called. Just enough to make me forget to put up my hang tag. But, it was laying visibly on the passenger seat. So, I came out after taking my test and I have a $200 parking ticket~  :icon_twisted: Well, actually not me my roommate because technically Rocky is under his name, not mine. I went straight to KPD two blocks away showing my hang tag and the registration that has the address matching my DL. The guy looked at me and said " let me guess you left it on the seat we will rescind it. Catch though $25 paperwork fee!" I was livid why the freak do you need to charge $25 to make a copy of my DL and hang tag and four key strokes on a computer  :dunno_black:

Sorry, but that pi$$es me the fluck off. Your darned if you do and danged if you don't! No one's safety was at risk and I wasn't doing anything harmful. I wish I could get the registration in my name so I could get a permanent plate like Flick but unless your name is on the title no deal.

BTW KPD told me the library is the worst place to forget your tag old people call us all the time complaining. We get 10-15 calls a day! That is ludacris! Old people need to get a life!

Never had a good experience with a cop.  I have been pulled over for everything from low tire treads on my car to license plate lights that appear to glow in color instead of white.  They always are writing ridiculous tickets just to see if they can stick.  Even when someone stole a work van from in front of my house they were not helpful.  They showed up and the only questions they asked was as if they thought i didn't make a payment or the neighborhood had it towed.  Because it makes sense that a tow truck would mow down mailboxes as they were towing the vehicle or someone would make payments on a 20 year old vehicle.  To make it even worse after a few weeks they called me to ask me if I found the vehicle so they could update the case.

Like I said, USELESS.u

I remember one early Sunday morning at the beginning of my shift I came upon a couple in a station wagon that had stopped on a paved street of a construction development that had run out of funds and had been abandoned, it was pretty desolate, miles from any inhabited area---it consisted of nothing but paved roads on a vacant tract of land. Seems these folks had adopted 8 or 9 homeless dogs and frequented this particular area to let them run free and play. While I was standing around talking to them and trading dog stories another cop from a neighboring district drove up and informed them ( while ignoring me---in my police car- in uniform - on duty ) they were trespassing and improperly parked, and if they didn't leave he would tow the car, arrest them, and call animal control to come pick up the dogs. Needles to say the guy was a complete and total Ass-* Hole. I quickly pulled him aside and following a brief but intense private discussion  this arrogant jerk was on his way and the "subjects" were told they could stay as long as they wished. I won't argue that there are definitely some out there that aren't fit to wear the uniform, but fortunately, in my experience, they are few and far between.
I'm not a racist, some of my best friends are you people.

It also depends on the locality.

I park my gs500 downtown in an alley on the sidewalk in Cincinnati. Have been 5 days a week for 6 months. No ticket no warning. Nothing.

The other day I was on my way to Chicago on my bike. Stopped at sbux for a coffee. Parked on the sidewalk cause there was no spots in the lot. 30 seconds later a cop comes storming in the coffee shop yelling at me. Told me that it is against the law etc etc.  I said sorry officer I will move immediately. He then proceeded to tell me 3x that there was empty spots in the parking lot. Those spots just became available 20 seconds prior.
Bikeless and Broke at the moment...

wholeheartedly agree. like bikers, the bad cops fall into the 1% grouping. 1% make the other 99% look bad. Or put them under undeserved scrutiny.

Yup,

This is called confirmation biased. You have a thought in your head "cops are a$$holes" then you meet 1 that is a jerk out of say 20 other positive encounters you are going to remember that one encounter because it reinforces your belief that "cops are a$$holes" despite the fact that 19 of them where great guys.

In Seattle you are only allowed to park on a city street in one spot for 72 hours. No ticket, they just tow your vehicle. That happened once with my GS ($150+ in tow fees) and almost happened with my Van but I saw the notice in time. $40 is not too bad considering you broke the law. Plus it sounds like you knew the law ahead of time!

I have also seen the UWPD in our university district call in a fleet of tow trucks and tow an entire block of cars. "They can't tow all of us!" ---uh, yeah they can!
