Lost a part, an important bike wont run without it part

Sucks......really bad.

I totally detailed and cleaned the bike the other day after finished my gear indicator. I know my bike still needs fine tuning and Im  welding my O2 bungs in my other set of pipes tomorrow to do some of that.

But coming off of idle it wants to stumble if you gun it. I totally clean out the carbs when I jetted them a few weeks back but I didnt take out the air mixture screws and make sure those passages were cleaned.

So.......i pulled the carbs and removed the mixture screws only to LOSE one of the small rubber washers under the spring and flat washer under the spring. PHUCK!

Im sure I cant find something this small locally so I went ahead and ordered a set of the extended mixture screws with new springs and washers. $50 mistake.

Yeah, I could have bought just the OEM washer and had it shipped for around $10 but I kinda wanted the longer screws anyway to assist with dialing in the fuel trims.

Anyway, just wanted to share that. Sucks to be me. I looked and looked all over but couldnt find it. Now that I bought the replacements, it will fall in my lap tomorrow

Because they are only $14.97 a pair direct from factory Pro? So that's why $50 is a mistake? (I just got in 3 sets.)

I feel yo pain ... recently after fiddling with carbs, I lost a bowl drain screw somewhere in the neighborhood... only a $15 mistake but still (yes i know, but ordered another couple items to mitigate the lunacy of having a couple small screws ups'd at $ 8 shipping.)

I've sorta learned to have a clean, wide open work space, well lighted with a large sheet of white paper on which to spread the parts and tools, 'cuz surely as God made little green apples, I'm gonna drop something small, and it will seek out the most out of the way black hole in the shop  as possible.

I spend as much time looking for stuff, as wrenchin'.

Trust me, I personally think 50 bucks is way too much for two screws. But when I get into my tuning, the last thing I want is to constantly pull the carbs or fight with a small bit trying to adjust the mixture

I was really wanting to go riding this weekend but oh well. My spare carbs I recently sold or else I would have just borrowed parts off of it. Live and learn.

Go to Harbor Freight Tools and buy a Viton/Nitrile o-ring and washer set.  They typically have the size that you need.  Usually around $10 for some 100-200 piece set.  Handy to have.  Be sure to get Viton/Nitrile otherwise Gas, Oil, and Heat will destroy the rubber.

No there hell there wont! LOL

I always do hit HF when we go out of town and we go quite a bit so I will pick up a kit for future assistance. Ordering though just isnt going to help right now

It CAN be found. Check a junkyard for maybe a carb on a car or something similar (I'm not above robbing a chainsaw). I got lucky when the little spring on my fuel cap decided to vanish I had an old fork seal sitting there that I pulled the spring on and cut/pulled to make the catch ball work better than before. There has to be something....or maybe you're "f"ed in the A

There is Factory Pro for the longer ones.
Then there are parts whores with boxes of assorted carb parts ready to toss into the recycling bin.......

Viton is synthetic rubber for extreme harsh chemicals. 
Nitrile is is resistant to heat and engine chemicals...just not as tough as Viton.

I'm no expert though...
