id be surprised if it were a fishing weight, that thing is HUGE compared to the woodgrain in background.  hmm scale weight or a plumb bob? idk

I dunno Addy, the wood grain is pretty close up ...

I reckon it's a weight sure enough ... But a 'official measure' weight for calibrating and correcting weighing equipment ... I think it's really small ... So maybe a gram/avoirdupois ounce/Troy ounce ... That kinda thing

jdoorn14

It's not a device used for fishing or any sort of measurement (weight, level, etc). It is also not a weight used for hanging pictures or anything else. While it's not a plumb bob, it is designed to hang while serving its purpose.

For size comparison, its circumference is about the size of an adult male's thumbnail.

The wood grain in the background is from my dining room table.

Paulcet got it.

It's a bell clapper from a "spirit" cowbell from some minor league hockey team that I don't think exists anymore.

Paulcet, you're up. :thumb:

It is something very handy after you do an "Oh, crap".
Most people don't know this exists, yet it is cheap, handy and most people can use one probably once a year - some more, some less.

A "grabber". As in, "Oh crap! I just dropped that screw down that crevice and can't reach it with my fat fingers."

Your on the right idea. Yes - something dropped. But what and where?

...drop something in the drain?
...heck, maybe a garbage disposal?

You're in the general area.
Sit down with a beer or glass of wine and think a little more about it.
