Looks like a variation of the wheels that sit in the track for sliding closet doors. I noticed that on my closet doors they're semi spherical vs just wheels.

This. Particularly flat parts such as glass. Imagine a table of 300 of these ball side up.

.. Dang it Addy .. That widget is in the way of the newspaper article!! ... I was just getting into that! ...

I I don't know. The name for the widget ... But I reckon it's a magnet for putting over a power cable ( to modify the field for some reason?) ... Or a screwdriver/similar type rod .. To make it easy to pick up metal bits ... ..... Not degaussing wand... I know that's for CRT corrections ... But a ... Dammit .... Too much searching on the web for answers is a bit cheaty ... Cos I know I have heard the name.. Just can't remember the name ...

Of course I might be wrong ... And it's really part of an IED?

Looks like one of those fuel line magnets they sell to "ionize gasoline on its way to the engine" to improve fuel economy.

Excellent...

Well, lets try something a little older, but none the less still quite useful (and it isnt the ruler either)

dohabee

does it connect to an air hose?

Kiwingenuity

It might connect to more than one air hose, but not quite in the way air tools do..
