kiwi vou are verrrrry close. but i may have misunderstood one of your replies. this insert type is not typically cast or moulded in to the material it is going into.  at least i have never seen that application.
here is a small clue.
the installation too which is attachedl in the fist post which has holes to match the insert is removed after installation.
sorry for the confusion on my part.
i should know how to speak kiwi by now since i am married to one. ;)

Is the tool used to heat the item (induction type fastening)?

oldmech

no very simple actually. and very durable in the harshest environments if done correctly. the installation tool shown is clear plastic and has adhesive to stick it to the insert. some are metal ( that's one half of its trade name, insert ) and these little guys are shall we say are glued in. the method or style of "gluing" with different resins gives it the other half of its trade name. the one i have posted is a blind/floating nut style. there are also straight thread and thru sert styles with no threads.
heres a clue. they are installed in honeycomb core composite style panels.
what is the other half of the trade name?  it is the same as you do with a young plant.

Kiwingenuity

Potted composite blind insert - floating nut. No idea of manufacturer though - Metal+Pot?

Janx101

metal - mow? .... metal - whippersnipper? ... metal - cat eats it? ... metal - kids fall on it?  ;) :icon_lol:

Paulcet

Couldn't nail down a brand name.  Potted insert, though.

This is plain crazy talk :cookoo: Let me give it a try.....I got a set of brake dimmers on my backup taco holder. Go get me some rafter benders for my remote ratchet buffer. Act dry mouth wetter works great on chicken teeth. Science wax works good on wing tip rotters shafts. :o

Can see your point there Pliskin - lots of jargon in there.. maybe we could start a new game to drive everyone mental - the Three Letter Acronym (TLA) game... and yes, I have worked on projects where that was an approved term in the acronyms section..  :cookoo:

Well, that one took a little bit of an effort to find..

This one is hopefully a bit more of a challenge (and is sort of like one of AdidasGuys previous "what is this" posts)

And its normal operating angle

Doesn't come any more apart, but you do have to use it with something else. Good luck

Kiwingenuity

Well - not even a wild guess from anyone yet.. should I offer a clue?

It's a oil dispenser. I've seen the plastic tube part many times....comes with printers. I have no idea why that one has washers and legs.

They are sometimes called Dropper Pipette and are used for other liquids.
Why are you looking here?

Janx101

hrrm .. ok.. looks like a small squeezy bottle thing .. and a plastic leg thing with brass washers for weight ..

therefor .. i am thinking it sits/floats in fluid .. and you attach a line/rod to the hook bits...

hrrrm ... could be for fishing ... for overflow control in a tank of some sort...

now i'm going looking for pictures ..

onya yama!! ..  :D

Plisky .. i suspect that while that may be a dropper pipette in other lives .. in that config the pipette bit is used because it suited the design purpose ..

still cant find a pic/desc from my clumsy google requests

Not a pipette, and good luck with Google... you won't find it using the image search functions either...

:icon_idea: You do use it with water though
:icon_idea: And Janx is right - it does sit in fluid when it is being used
