Nowhere close. Except yes, that is a spring in it.

Give us a hint. How big is it? Is it uses in building construction? Is it part of a nail gun?

It is a thingie that goes in an aperture flywheel grommice with a vacuum gasket that helps modulate the flux capacitor. Superseded by part 09826-01d20.

Close but no cigar!  :cookoo:

It's about 5" long. Hand tool. Useless for its intended application without other specific hand tools.

I was told what one of these was ... Many many moons ago... Been steadily racking my brain for days now whenever i look at the pic ... But nada so far ..

Even looking at it though ... I know it winds something.. I think? ... It looks like it placed temporarily in a section or 'slot' .. Back of the metal bit has that little notch to hold on a panel (sheet metal?) ... Spring is there to keep the square key end held into the bolt or whatever it needs to turn ... Plastic tab is there because you need to be able to slide it out of fiddly places by compressing the spring ... And there is white/grey powdery stuff on the end of the key rod bit ...???

Or possibly the square end bit has a small variety of attachments that slide on and the thingy chamfers or bores crud out of a tubey thing....

Trying to help others visualise this.... And myself .... Aaaaargh!!  :icon_rolleyes:

Badot

No attachments. Tip goes into the object it operates on, every other part is hands only. "White powder" is just a worn finish.

pliskin

Part of a paint shaker machine? I don't know, just putting it out there.

BockinBboy

Is this part of a rivet tool or similar device?

Nothing to do with rivets.

Big hint: Primarily used on doors but its specific use goes well beyond that.
