Hang on. . Not dispute win. . But wth is a burst disc?

It's a brass plug with a round copper (or sometimes aluminum) disk at the bottom.  Depending on the thickness and type of material, it can be rated to a certain pressure threshold and if the pressure on the other side of the disk exceeds that threshold it will "burst" and vent the pressure.  I use them in varying pressure thresholds (1.2k-7.5kpsi) on CO2 tanks, high pressure air cylinders, and high pressure regulators.

Ahh! .. cheers. .. elegant explanation! :thumb:

Elmojo

That WAS a good way of explaining it. I was thinking of how to answer, when I saw your post. I thought, yeah, what he said. lol

No, Janx, I did not find it in my pants, but it IS quite sharp and likely to cause trouble if not handled properly, so I see the confusion.  :icon_mrgreen:

pliskin

Why are you looking here?

QuoteMicroscope eye piece

Huh? Umm...no.  :cookoo:  :tongue2:

Watcher

Looks like the white part has a point in the center of it.

It wouldn't be for testing metal hardness, would it?

I was gonna guess part of a gunpowder measure/thrower for reloading.... but it's not quite right for that

Elmojo

Nope, not a tester, but that is a sharp point, good eye!
It's actually carbide, it that helps.
It's not related to firearms at all, at least not directly.
It's a tool that goes in something else....

pliskin

Is it like a tip or clutch for drill or some other power tool?
Why are you looking here?

Elmojo

Not really. It goes to a power tool in the sense that it plugs into the wall, but not like a handheld drill or saw or anything like that.

Janx101

A lathe part... for making extra fine adjustment for a cut?

Elmojo

Nope, but it is a cutting tool of sorts.
The tip is solid carbide, and the exposed portion only protrudes maybe 1/8" at full extension.

Watcher

Etcher?  Like, for writing on steel?

Watcher is the closest so far, but still a bit off.
It's a cutter head, very sharp, very small.
Does that help any?

Watcher

If its not an engraver I'm not sure I have another guess...

Ok, I realize this is a tough one, but isn't that the point?  :icon_twisted:

Here's what we know so far:
The body is plastic, the 'blade' is carbide.
It's about 2" long, and is a cutting tool of some sort.

New HINTS:
The numbers are used to set the depth of cut.
The deepest cut is about 1/16". I said 1/8" earlier, that was wrong, sorry.
The machine it's used in is sitting on a workbench in my office, and is about the size of a desktop printer.

BIG hint: I used this machine recently when restoring my GS, repainting the tank, rust spots on the frame, side covers, etc...

Any of that help?  :whisper:

Close enough!  :woohoo:

It's a cutter head for my vinyl cutter.
Stencils are one of the things you can do with it.
I used to to make the "SUZUKI" decals for the tank.

Watcher, that's the 2nd one you've won, you MUST post something.
