Looking for frame sliders for a 2009 gs500f. If anyone has an idea of where I can get them or has some extra ones they are trying to get rid of I would love them!

Two types available for your bike.

1) R & G frame sliders.  Requires cutting a hole on each fairing.

2.) T-Rex Frame sliders offers a 'No-cut' option for your bike.  Little annoyances that are easily 'fixed', but quality construction nonetheless.

I have T Rex on mine and they are nice. I've got pics of them in a thread on here also.

The R&G sliders are always available. Order the ones for faired model. The spacers are a little different than the ones for naked models.

Oops. I didn't even consider checking ebay, thanks for the link. I was referring to BockinBboy's posted link above for the drilled fairing style.

adidasguy

While the rex are easier to mount, they don't protect the fairing.
The R&G which go through fairing provide good protection - well - because they are right there in the middle of the fairing.

I've seen how R&G can protect. Bluesmudge can tell you they work pretty good.

I believe the Rex are too far back and away from the fairing to protect it. They can protect the engine sides, but not the fairing.

In regards to drilling a hole, how easy is the process? Is the fairing prone to giving spider web cracks, or is it just a straight-forward, drill on the paint mark and be done with it?

How wide should the hole be, will any sufficiently sized drill bit type do?

adidasguy

I forget the hole size, however R&G sliders come with all the instructions and drill sizes you need.
Easy to do.

Awesome, good to know.

I highly recommend the R&G.

Use the hole saw they recommend!

If you don't have one, they (R&G) sell one.

You get a mess if you don't, ask me how I know ;)

In related questions...Does anyone know if R&G sell individual parts for said sliders (pucks, bolts)?

weedahoe

Ive never been keen on making permanent holes in my fairings.
