So I'm replacing my head, and I need the metal gasket that goes in between the head and the cylinders, and the gasket that goes in between the cylinders and the bottom end, as well as the copper crush washers. Am I correct about this/did I miss anything? I have the rubber valve cover gasket already.

Where do you guys get yours from?

I buy complete sets from Europe. Or hit up your local dealer.
I like sets - even though I'm not using everything today, someone will use them. After all, it is the West Seattle Bike Cave - the Northwest co-op of GS500 parts.

I've bought a couple different sets. I prefer the NE brand over the others.

PS: As we all know, ignore the year. Only difference is the oil pan gasket when the oil cooler was added. Head and upper end is same for all.

You may as well replace the camchain tensioner gaskets while its apart, there is one where it fits into the block and one under the cover. If you buy a kit they will be in there.

Next to OEM I rate the Athena kits over anything else but they are hard to find and not the cheapest.

I get offcuts of this http://www.ramgaskets.com/gasket-materials/nonasbestos/klinger/ on the bay for next to nothing and make gaskets myself where possible, just carefully draw around the old one and cut it out  :thumb:
