Hey guys. I'm pretty sure I started a thread today...yesterday technically...asking people to share their insurance company, costs, coverage and driver history. It seems to have disappeared. Does anyone know if this is an off limits topic to discuss on the forum? Or am I just an idiot and forgot to hit post?

Well I didn't do it... Did you look in TF?  Sounds like just a glitch or IO error.

Yeah, I was kinda interested to see what everyone was paying and for what type coverage because me thinks me paying too much already :(

I was told to shop around, and it paid off BIG time... I was quoted nearly 2k/year for liability and comprehensive with state farm, even with multipolicy (home, car, and bike), clean record, and MSF course... + $500 dollar deductible! Liablity only was still $450/year with them...
I shopped around and found everywhere else was cheaper with ranges all over the place, and ended up with Progressive.  I imagine that certain companies insure more of a particular type than others, and therefore offer better priced plans based on the amount of risk involved with the number of policies of the types they have. Something tells me that State Farm doesn't insure many new or younger riders... I'll get another round of quotes when I'm 25, as I would rather keep my insurance under one roof, but it still doesn't look promising for State Farm on the bike.

The State Farm agent asked me how much the bike was worth ($2.4K), and full coverage per year costed more than the amount of the bike once you add their $500 deductible... and she said I should look at liability only for a cost like that... I'm just thinking, why would it ever cost more than the bike that isn't worth that amount in the first place?... They must calculate for a total loss on younger new riders before their first year to get that number...
