Anybody know where to get a 17T sprocket?

I'm looking for a 17T sprocket, but so far haven't found much.

So far I've found this one from PBI on amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/PBI-Steel-Sprocket-Natural-756-17/dp/B003CKKUNM

and this one from Pro Tek on ebay:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pro-tek-Front-Sprocket-520-Pitch-Suzuki-1989-1990-1991-1992-1993-GS500E-17T-/190693523176?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2c66383ee8&vxp=mtr

The Pro Tek one has a 520 pitch, but it looks like the recommended pitch is 756.

Can anybody explain the pitch, and whether or not it will work?

Anybody have experience with the PBI?

Or does anybody know a good place to get a sprocket?

GS500 takes a 520 pitch chain. There is no such thing as a 756 pitch. 756-17 is probably the manufacters ID ref for that sprocket.

Pitch is the distance between rollers but you also need to consider the width between plates. 520, 525 and 530 are all 5/8 pitch but have widths of 1/4, 5/16 and 3/8 respectively.

Sprockets on Addy's search all or mostly look like type with shoulder for 94 and later GS.  Should say what year your looking for so we don't need to search for it, looks like you have a 93?

A JTF565.17 should fit a 89-93 GS:

Yeah sorry. It's a '93, so I need the flange-less model.

The JT sprocket doesn't show up when I do the "Find parts for your vehicle", which makes me a bit skeptical, but it makes sense that it would work.

I bought my sunstar on Ebay

Sunstar 33317 fits 94-09 GS500 but 89-93 needs a 325 sprocket that comes in 32516 with 16T but they don't list a 32517 with 17T.

I did. For whatever reason, the 17T doesn't show up under Amazon's vehicle fitment for a '93.

gsJack

That's a problem with Amazon's fitment info but they do have the JTF565.17 sprocket as linked above.

http://www.amazon.com/JT-Sprockets-JTF565-17-Steel-Sprocket/dp/B0068OCUOG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1360507871&sr=8-1&keywords=jtf565.17

And the JTF565 is the one that fits the 89-93 GS500E according to JTF as also linked above:

By the way, lol, in answer to your question in your first post, the ProTek is for 94-04 GS but the PBI is for 89-93 GS.  I've never tried either of those brands but they are probably OK.  I and many others here have used the JT sprockets.

Also, I put 80k miles on my 97 GS and my son used it after I did and he put on a new chain and sprocket set and put maybe about 30k on them and I got the wheels back when he parted the bike out and that rear sprocket was much more worn than the oem rear on my current 02 GS that has 97k miles on it. So I tend to stick with brands I've used myself.

Well, I picked up the PBI (because I'm cheap like that). The OEM sprocket looks good still, so I'll clean it up and hold onto it while keeping an eye on the PBI.

Thanks for all the help!
