Suppress bar vibrations?

My handlebars are getting to the point of being annoying. They've always buzzed a lot, but I just can't stand it anymore! How can I go about making these things less buzzy? I'd love no vibration but that's probably a lot to ask for. I've heard a bit about bar end weights, but I don't really know anything about this. What have you guys figured out about the vibes?

Try stockbar end weights or equivalent after market ones (like R&G). Aluminum bar ends are pretty but don't do anything.

Where can I find something like that? Ideally I'd love those big bar end slider things

Stock: look around flea-ghey. They show up on a regular basis.

R&G: part number BE0017BK (you can google it). It is not a GS500 specific part so often available at dealers.
They are on flea-ghey or available through many dealers in the UK

Bar end balancers for sure. But you have clubmans dont you? If so and they're hollow you will need the later model type with the expansion bushing in them. I am not sure what year they changed it though.

Bar ends are bar ends. The expanding bushing is just on a longer screw. Changed in 2001 or 2004 probably because the bars are cheaper and any aftermarket crap (i.e. stuff, items, parts, accoutrements) can go in hollow bars. Also probably too many people broke off the screws which basically makes the bars useless when that happens.

I see. I was thinking the bushing was attached and the screw ran through it.

Clubman bars, Joe rocket Atomic 3.0 gloves. It's gotten worse (I think) with the clubmans, but that may just be how my hands sit. I only rode on the stocks for the first thousand miles, clubmans for the last 4500

When I switched to my drag bars I had the same issue, I put a mix of copper BB's and steel shot fishing weights inside the bars.  Stuffed them in as tight as I could and No issues with vibrations since.

did you fill the entire bar? or did you bind them together somehow to just fill the ends :icon_question:

I thought powdered milk was the preferred choice?

That, and some cement powder. Some to put in the bars and some for the owner to sprinkle over their Cheerios each morning.

MVent03

When I changed to drag bars and put new grips on I also put some pretty aluminum bar ends on.

They lasted to the end of the street and back to my garage. I don't know how anybody puts up with those.

The thing is twins vibrate whether it be parallel or v-twin. You can get away with pretty aluminum bar ends on an i4 since they are a smoother engine.

I forgot to mention, I just put gixxer grips on it, which is when I really noticed the difference. With the stock grips, it was alright, but these skinnier ones just don't get the job done! I'll have to talk to my local shop when I go in monday for my shims about some bar ends. They did new grips and the weighted sliders on my buddies old CBR for $20, so not too bad
