Same, this is awesome. The people around here would never set up an event like this for "free". However i would pay for something like this, nothing like a refresher and talking with more experienced riders.

"they" is "us". if you want to do the same, all it takes is a parking lot, permission, and cones. the maps and general gist of things is all available on amgrass.

get 4-5 riders together and try the GP8 (figure 8, 5 laps, and a stopwatch). it's addictive, competitive, and teaches you very quickly where to improve.

or try gp8 on your own. i promise, you will enjoy it. :)

you can do it ! get your buddies together and try it out. cops -like- to see an organized skills event instead of just wheelies everywhere or burnouts. ahem, the wheelies and burnouts still happen, but there are zero frowns from the leos ;-)

set up the gp8, on appropriate lot, and have fun :)

I would be concerned with liability, do you guys make them sign waivers?

wavers, yes
concern, no

rider  have to comlete a "24' circle of trust". its just a circle of cones, which they navigate on the inside of, then the outside of, to demonstrate control of their machines. after that,  and the waver, they are allowed to try the course one at a time. larger courses allow more than one rider.

anyone not able to complete the circle of trust is asked to stay, and try again, until they can.

THIS THE LAST BUMP, FREE Gymkhana FREE is tomorrow morning.

THIS WILL BE NEWBIE FRIENDLY. no one will be laughed at (ok, a few of the regular guys will, but not at YOU), pestered, or ridiculed for dropping your bike. YOU WILL BE HELPED, guided, and talked through whatever portions you ask help with.

If you've ever felt uncomfortable in a parking lot speed manuever, this is for you.

If you've ever wondered what it feels like to rip around a very very tight course like those incredible japanese, this is for you.

If you've ever wanted to improve, and FEEL THOSE IMPROVEMENTS during a later ride, this IS FOR YOU.

There will be between 30-35 MSF safety instructors on hand. Their purpose is to LEARN FROM US about gymkhana, but also to give pointers and instruction as needed to anyone that asks. THEIR SERVICES ARE FREE AT THIS EVENT, but there will be no certifications for your completion. If you want certs or endorsements, schedule a class.

JUST SO EVERYONE UNDERSTANDS, NO ONE WILL BE TAUGHT HOW TO RIDE AT THIS EVENT.

the entire purpose of this event is to

RIDE BETTER, INSTILL CONFIDENCE, and CHALLENGE YOUR SKILL LEVEL.

if you plan on attending, and have any further questions, PM me. otherwise, ride safe, no more bumps  :thumb:
