Sooooo... had my best ride since before Christmas yesterday morning  :icon_mrgreen:  :woohoo:

Managed to get a full throttle plug chop in and she's a bit lean up top so I need to go back to the 132.5 mains, but she was pulling just fine everywhere I went. Got a great run through my favourite corners over Mt Mee and had a great blast  :thumb:

The wee beasty is back  :icon_mrgreen:

Awesome Pete, it's about bloody time those carbs behaved themselves!

Our charity ride yesterday went extremely well, 2 Harleys blew up and an L Plater came off the bike (too much front brakes in a gravel stop), but we raised close to $3500 for the local childrens ward. I also won some hooch, so I was drunk for the 4th time this week.

My liver hates me!

Janx101

But the kiddies in the ward will love ya! ... good show Malf!

peteGS

Good show indeed!!!

Nice one mate  :thumb:

And yes, very nice to be able to just ride now  :icon_mrgreen:

First delayed double post for a while  :thumb: :woohoo:

Got the bigger mains in and mixture screws out half a turn last night so we'll see how she feels today and if some of the snap crackle and pop has gone away... otherwise it's needle lifting time...

Commuting on the train in the rain....  is no pain! Lol

Hope it runs deliciously Pete! ..  weren't you at a similar stage...... ummm..  3 weeks ago? ... is this the directors cut then? :p ;)

peteGS

Commuting on the train... anytime... is a huge pain! Hahaha... oh I hate it...

I was at this stage about 3 weeks ago but I didn't know it...  :technical: damn stupid coild  :technical:

Now that I actually know where I'm at I can move forward this time  :thumb:

Pretty sure that 65 mid main is too big, sorta feels like a dump a huge amount of fuel when I crack the throttle and it hits that point but just before that it's a bit lean... only plug chops will tell but I haven't really had the opportunity yet... might give it a crack tonight by dropping the mid main and lifting the needle a notch instead.

And I had two dodgy connection issues yesterday, can't damn well win!  :technical:

Managed to knock the 12v connector partially off the indicator relay when putting the tank and seat back on so the indicators worked with the bike off but the vibration of it running made them not work...

Then trying to leave work yesterday had me standing on the side of the road for 20 minutes working out which connector was loose because I had no spark... damn signal generator connector! Need to replace that one, a bit loose after 34 years...

Train saving me fuel cost and sitting in the Damn traffic on way home!... lol...
You seem to thrive on bike niggles Pete!  ... maybe you should buy a antique Norton with the Lucas harness. .. that be keep you excited! Lmao

peteGS

Nooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One loose 34 year old connector is enough thanks... don't want a harness full of connectors designed to be dodgy from the start! Gotta get a trip to Jaycar in today as they have a 4 way weather proof connector that should do the trick nicely.

Funny thing with the train here... it's a quarter of the price of the train to ride to work... and it's quicker despite the traffic, even more so now that filtering is legal. Parking is free out the front of the building as long as you get in early enough for a spot.

On the train, I need to leave home a minimum of 10 minutes early to ensure I don't miss it because they shut the pedestrian gate at the station... then it's a 26 minute train trip providing there's no delays, then it's a 10 minute walk from the station to work...

Riding is normally about 30 minutes from rolling out the driveway to walking in the door at work... worst I've had with traffic issues was about 45 minutes... still 1 minute faster than the train trip...

Take the train you say?
Heh... 32 years working on the railroad.

Have seen my share of angry commuters.  :icon_rolleyes:
They are a durable lot. Especially here in the Northeast where snowy winters really fuk things up!

BTW; Pete, If I ever become wealthy by chance, I shall indeed buy you a pristine GS450 form a collector or motorcycle museum.
Your fueling issues have crossed the boundary into full blown insanity.
You need relief, and soon...

Hmmm yeah. Straight drive to work is 75 mins at 3-5am timeslot. . Drive home can be 90 mins, can be 120 mins and worst was 180 mins (yep all in mins to make you lot do mental maths ;) )

Drive to first early train (which still gets me there on time) is usually 40 mins or 45 if foggy... train takes 50 mins. . so slower trip in. ... but can be much faster to get home, (station to work is 500m and from where I leave car it's all freeway home!) and I get to nap if I want on train, not deal with arvo traffic and saves me 20-25 bucks a week in fuel/travel cost incl train fare...
If I had the bike registered I could ride it in, but riding home in moderate/heavy traffic when I'm tired from 2.30 am wakeup? .. nah. . I have to stop car sometimes and nap for 15 mins (lean seat back and nap!) .. can't do that on bike...

My orig plan was to ride in much as I could. . Fatigue realisation quashed that. . Lol

Malfruen

I can get anywhere I need to within 10 minutes. Car or bike. But not the bike for a while after this week.

I've had to have surgery on my back to remove a cyst which got its dumb ass infected and cut circulation off too my lower spine, woke up on Tuesday in pain, paralyzed Wednesday. I'm walking again, now the problem is fixed, gotta wait for the wounds to heal before I bike again. That and some weakness in my legs from it all.

I just thought I pulled a muscle. Until I couldn't f%$king walk the next day. At least there's a bright side. The nurse was pretty fine too look at, and now I have a great reason to be lazy for a couple of days.

Janx101

Crikey! .. glad you ok now bro!

Yes. Exactly!
Thank you for the reality check.
My ability to "ride" to work seems to become less and less of a reality with each passing year.
A combination of all the things you mentioned in your post are making "bike time" a damn rarity.  :icon_neutral:

EJ... if you're wealthy, forget the pristine 450 and get me a Kat  :icon_mrgreen: :D

Insanity... yes... doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result... so now I'm doing the same things but I'm getting different results  :cookoo:

Ok Mr Janx, now I see why you take the train! It would be a touch choice for me with the 2:30am start too...

Glad to hear you can walk again Malf! Ugh!!!

I'm so broke I cant even pay attention.
But if/when I get rich I will get you something "fuel injected" so you never have to worry about suffering from carburetor-madness again.

BTW; Do rich people own GS500's? I'm thinking "no".

Fuel injected eh? ... Pete! .. I think EJ wants to get you a HP4!!

..... in other news......  f%$k!! FUUUUUUUUUCK! ... got to station 1 min late for usual train. ... no biggie.. got a coffee and chilled out with you guys for half hour.... but. .. so busy replying on here I just let the next one go too! ... another half hour! ... bloody trains that go to other branch from this line are every 10 fucken minutes! . . But nooooooo! ...

Oh well ill just chill and perv on the lycra clad chicks on way home from their gym sessions... taut bodies.... lightly sweaty... tight lycra..

I'll survive I think! :thumb:

Janx101

And EJ. .. rich normal people. . Probs not! ...

But rich and crazy as a rabid coin people...  are called eccentric! ...

Eccentric people could own a GS500! ?

Janx101

Coin? ..  goddam spellchecker! .  Coon.... raccoon!

peteGS

I can see a rich eccentric person owning... 50 GS500's... just coz...
