Well there's the lack of tiles and the old kitchen...

Yesterday had to have a short ride out with a mate to get over shifting the kitchen upstairs on Saturday...

Untitled by starpoint73, on Flickr

This week is going to be all about watching Youtube videos on installing the kitchen, Saturday I'll have to have a last ride before the fun starts, then Sunday on will be starting to dismantle the old kitchen. I'll have three weeks off work to get it all done...

Starting some pre-assembly of the cabinets after work this week, no pic's as I just did one small one last night to get into the swing of it.

Saturday will be no kitchen stuff, out for a ride.

Sunday will be moving appliances out of the kitchen in preparation for the electrician to disconnect power points etc. on Monday which will be when the destruction begins. Then it'll be three weeks of hell fun!

Ahem..... the Good News ... sent it to local trustworthy shop, tyres done (Dunlop Arrowmax something or others),  carbs cleaned and kitted, fuel lines (proper legit ones!) , blue slip done(roadworthy/safety check) (5 years out of rego... yes really!!!! 5 YEARS!!!) , greenslip done (customary third party insurance required for rego in Australia), Rego ........ DONE!!! .... !!!!! ......!!!!!!!!!!!!!  :D :D :D

Pick the bike up Saturday morning probably.... need to get paid to pay the shop.. they cool with it!

The Bad News.... I was slack and didn't drag my helmet out of the cupboard till last night..... the liner was quite stanky and mildewed..... it's removable.... so I slipped it out of the shell..... the foam backing was completely rotten and the liner material started to split also!!..... no big funds for a new helmet.... but I can and have ordered a brand new liner from England..... just now.... (damn shipping costs more than the liner! But oh well) ...... it will take "7-15 days" to get here!! .... so guess who is gonna be hovering over the letterbox till then!

I tried the helmet on without the liner..... it sort of fits... but ... the polystyrene sits rather hard on my poor old balding head.... and it slips about a bit.... so I can wait! ..... bit like PeteGS..... wanting everything to be "just so" for that first ride/relaunch!!

Speaking of which... Pete.... that motor ... you still want it?! .... I'm not gonna ever actually do anything with it (even with the bike now, I had funds.... but absolutely no interest in wrenching or spending time doing it myself.. only too happy to give the shop the work!) .... but anyway.... Can't remember if I said before..... you can HAVE the motor.... just the shipping is on you.... there's no panic! But due to other life situations I need to start clearing and tidying a LOT of storage area! ... I can check down here a few places/people about possible transport costs.... as I say... no rush at all.... but it WILL be moved sooner rather than later!  :kiss3:

peteGS

Janxy's back!!!!  :woohoo: :woohoo:

That's awesome news you're getting the GS back on the road, bet you can't wait!!! But yes, totally understand the need to have things all squared away for that first ride back. Having been off mine for nearly 10 years before getting the 450 finished, I can safely say take it easy to start with and just ease back in to it  :thumb:

As for the motor, if you need it gone, I'm happy to help make it gone  :D

Only thing time wise is I need to wait 'til next pay (15th September) to cover the shipping costs and then I'll be good to go. If you could check on costs that would be great, I think I'd need to know dimensions and weight to figure it out which could be a bit awkward without the motor. My postcode is 4054 if they need it. If it needs to be picked up from a depot or something I can pinch my house mate's ute to go grab it too.

Can't remember if you know the condition or km's on the motor? Just curious mainly as I'm deciding if I replace the whole 450 bottom end with it or if I just do the barrel and piston swap... and if I big bore it or not  :icon_mrgreen:

It'll be a next year project either way... really gotta do the Kat head rebuild sooner rather than later as the valve stem seals on the loaner head are definitely an issue going by the amount of oil she's consuming  :o

Hmmm ... got it from an old user on here... he upgraded to a TL1000 ... am looking for the post or reference... might find it tonight? ... vague memory says that he was unsure about it's history too though.... investigation continues....
When the mechanic shop picked it up out of the garage I was just "meh sort it out and ring me" ... seeing it virtually ready to go and hearing it running yesterday..... fluttering and pitter pat in the chest!.... so close!!!! ....

... that could be a precursor warning for a heart attack tho.... mum's family have heart issues and dads have dementia.... gonna be an Interesting old age!!! Lmao

I have diabetes and dementia to look forward to I believe...  :icon_mrgreen: :icon_lol:

Upgraded to a TL hey? I've not ridden one but they sound nice! Saw a very nice example the other week up at Mt Glorious too.

That's cool if you don't know the condition, I'll do some invesitgation once we get it organised and see what it's like. Splitting the cases isn't too big a deal to inspect the bottom end and check bearings, shifting forks, etc. If it looks clean then it just takes a bit of threebond to put them back together again...

Hey-Yo Yama!  :D

....

Well folks.... yesterday was good.... got the bike back home... mate rode it the few km from the mechanic back to my place... damn windy day! .. gusts up to 105km/hr in our area!! ... I could have organised it so I got dropped off and rode it back.. but this was just easier for my to do list of the day..

This morning I did my least anticipated bike/ride related task... hauled my boots and gloves out of the storage cupboard.. wiped away the mildew and dust from all the crevices... smeared copious amounts of leather dressing into same... they weren't wrecked or as bad as they could have been.... it's just a fiddly job that I never love!

.... and now we wait for the new helmet liner to arrive......   :hithead:

Always fun getting ready Eh?

Been windy up here too Janx, real windy! Saturday morning was interesting in a couple of spots on the crests of hills with no trees to block the wind. I didn't expect to feel the wind so much on the Kat given it's a big heavy lump of steel but you still do!

Bet you're itching for that liner to arrive hey? How's the GS look/sound? Good as it was or better? Excited for you!! I know that anticipation well  :icon_mrgreen:

Day one of kitchen removal yesterday, electrician coming in this morning to disconnect stuff so we can continue.

Oh breaking has been done already!! The old cupboards were nailed together rather than screwed, so some had to be destroyed to remove them... that was a bit of fun :D

End of day two... old out, new starting to go in, and the pantry is huge!
