Look at me, look at janx, look at me, I'm on a horse.
Some say that he submitted a $20000 expense claim for some gravel

And that if he'd write a letter of condolance he would at least spell your name right.

Janx, going to the "mines" for $80k is crap. You can get that as a labourer on a construction site and get to sleep in your own bed at night.

Going to the mines means I get to drive a big big truck with skill and care ... A construction labourer has to do all kinds of manual crap....

Starts at 80k ... Which even after tax is probably going to be 25-30k better than my current income after tax and bills!!

I'm too friggin old and cranky to be stumping around a building site!

slipperymongoose

Lets be honest we all want to drive big trucks. Damn you tonka!!!

I've lost my grasp of the topic here.

lol .. yeah... put the bid on other day.. was all blase and offhanded ... looked last night... blase still .... till about 10min before end today.... nearly gave myself retina burn watching the little red countdown timer... 1 min to go... perched over the keyboard like a buzzard!! .... was expecting some wise-ass with a sniper prog to come in... nuthin!.. ah well...  :icon_lol:

stock rear end hasnt bothered me in the slightest overall... until recently... been a little more aggressive than normal on a couple backroads near me.... lots of undulating road surface ... started to notice the classic 'cadillac float' moves the back of bike was making... that was enough! ..

... hell ... i might even go all out and bolt the thing in myself!! .. also due for oil and filter .. which up to now i got a mechanic to deal with cos i  couldnt be bothered .. chain and sprockets will be soon-ish ...

.. and the valve clearance check ... dunno about that .. i know it describes easy enough to do... might ask the mechanic if he can do it for now... while i watch .. then have a crack myself next time... undecided on that yet though... its got 18k kms on ... and not 'playing up' at all that i can tell...

... i accept that they do need checking... but sometimes i wonder .. do they get 'over-checked/messed with' too much .. and with the action of changing cos its 'xyz instead of abc' .. it becomes a issue simply because of being changed around too often? ... plus... if its not broken then dont 'fix' it ..  :dunno_black:

Electrojake

The first valve lash check is important. After that it becomes less critical.

As I recall, the katana shock is not a direct bolt-in. Some minor modifications are required.
I rebuilt my fronts, but never touched the rear. Too expensive.
If that rear you just bought has life left in it, you got a damn good deal.

it looks clean ... compared to some of the crusted up units also available...

what mods? ... i'll go looking on here i reckon ..  :thumb:

codajastal

Katana shock is a direct bolt on. I have one in mine and will never go back to stock.

after a bit of search ... and what Cods just said while i was typing ...

not to disagree with you EJ ... but .. i found references to SV650 shock mods needed.... R6 shock mods needed ... but far as i could see the Katana 600 bolts straight in?....  :icon_confused:

... now looking looking for valve lash/km info ....

.. or shall i shrug and nick off home for the day.... grab the bike and get a shot of it with a towtruck .. before them dang Qld'ers do?... hmmm
;)
