I'm tired... train commute home.... the seat material design is blue/black/yellow speckled. ... there are 'faces' in the design!.... they are watching me!! .... waiting till I fall asleep!!!

An observation i made today. doc says post trauma arthritis is permanent. when weather comes in, 2 hours befre it arrives i feel it. pain triples way beyond a 10. dog hides i locate my meds and prepare lol. or to shorten this,
"dog heads for the hills i head for the pills" but its funny lol. dog looks at me saying " here it comes lol. we literally pick it up within moments of eachother. going to obtain a large sketch pad and plan the GS trike. thank you janx for reigniting this. i had thought of it a long while back in 04-05. now with a med necessity this may happen. janx may get together to share ideas on this. ( this will take a bit to happen. maybe 2 years. cause i have to acquire everything.
A Gs obviously it will be Gs based.
rear end will be a honda 400ex swingarm. has inboard brakes etc and will fit with some modifcation.
have to extend driveshaft of the swingarm. either i use/machine a longer axle, to make it semi stable.
wheels will be Gs ( probably fronts. cause drive is contained inboard on swingarm. getting stoked :) thankyou janx. for kicking it off. can probably use a stock gs exhaust . janx you made my day my friend. :) got me to shift focus.
What are your thoughts on using airshift? reverse im not concerned about. i will be able to walk assisted by a cane lol. so i can 1 leg push a bike backwards if i need to.

Airshift. ... well now.... I'm gonna have to research what that is before I venture a shadetree engineer thought on it!

peteGS

Hmmm I know in the UK they use Robin Reliant diff etc. for trike conversions, dunno if there's something equivalent in the US. You lot seem to like things over sized so I suspect not  :icon_lol:

For reversing, you could just do an electric motor on the drive shaft. Have it only be able to switch on when in neutral then a push button on the left 'bar to engage it. I think that's how they do the reverse assist on Goldwings etc.

Well I'll be forked! ... yeah Pete!.... Better/simpler idea!

Had a quick chat yesterday with a mate who is a machinist. .. explained my concept to him.... he said yeah ok could do, but why?... as in why so much parts for just reverse? .. then said... "there's better ways, have a think!" ..... ...... did he tell you first Pete!? ;) ;) Lmao

yamahonkawazuki

or just 1 leg push. friend of mine saw me in pain yesterday offered mee a small bottle of jack daniels. i said thanks but no thanks. 1st i dont drink anymore and 2nd ive 2 broken ankles with problems. last thing i should do is drink and fall lol.
still scheming/thinking on design here. leaning toward no bodywork. just making the exposed mechanicals pleasing to the eye.

Hahaha no Janx, didn't chat to your mate  ;)

Many years ago I had an XS750 semi basket case that someone had hacked the frame on to lower the seating position. I had ideas of what to do with it at the time and one of those was a trike conversion, so I was looking at various ways of doing that.

And I reckon that was a sensible move Yama  :thumb:

Got PBS tuned in again OTA. ( Dont have cable) me and patrick used to watch the same programs on a 3 hour time difference. :( couldnt tell him lol i.e. spoiler alert lol) vegetation here screws with the motorised antenna. have to wait until im able to be on my feet so i can put antenna on roof. got best reception thusfar putting it on pole in back yard. wont let anyone else on roof for liability. so roof mount may be indefinately postponed. :(

Sooooo. ... Pete. .... you will have a whole box of bike parts ready to assemble according to instructions. .... ..... ..... it'll be a Kit Kat!! ..... bahahaha.. .. (insert pic of the husky dog excited face! ) ;)

yamahonkawazuki

theres an idea pete lol. paint bike in colour of a kit kat wrapper ( an off red or brick red) and have a decal set made up for it saying KIT-KAT. cant wait for this to be on road and im 13k miles away. but watching closely.

Yama. .. vegetation screws with motorised antenna. ...

Distant trees block signal? ... or you have weeds/vines fouling the mechanism?

peteGS

Kit Kat or Kat Kit? Hahaha

The way things are looking I'll probably be about 75% complete with bits and pieces in the next week or so... at least I hope so anyway!

The assembly however will have to wait for a bit, I must build the shed first. Timber for that arrives on Monday as I start 2 weeks leave from work  :thumb:

still think it would be interesting painted in colour of kitkat wrapper and a kit kat logo ( or kat kit ;) in place of the emblem on tank. this reminds me of my 4th gs. i had plans of painting it john deere green the wheels john deere yellow, AND putting the john deere logo in place of the tank decal. then outrun someone in a car, catch them later on and ask " how did it feel to be outrun by a john deere. but finished and sold that bike. legs being what they are when i build my trike,  out of a gs ;) it will either be the john deere theme or the first one. a bonafide yamahonkawazuki ( my first gs lol had asst parts on it. still got the tank decals here somewhere lol.) ( also the source of my username lol) am sorry this sparked my mind to do this again. [/threadjack]

My 450 used to have a Honda bit on it... but it still has a Kwaka bit on it... I just don't like to admit it  ;)

Oh, it does have bits meant for a Yammie too but they're after market so I say they don't count  :D

Got way more done than expected on the shed yesterday... rear frame and two side frames are done... so just the front frame to go! Then it's the fun of getting the colorbond tin on the outside then making doors... oh and figuring out the inside insulation, shelving, etc. Need to paint the outside too... while it's colorbond it's quite old and faded (bought recycled stuff for half the price per metre of new).
