Am loving what i see even with the loose temprary runs, that has to be some of the cleanest wiring "porn"   ever.  are you planning on using some sort of run or conduit to enclose the wiring? ( or run it within the frame rails? ive done this before, a tad tedious but worth it if yyou want no wiring visible)
On my end im awaiting the arrival of the hopefully correct axle material.  if i set the long end out under engine i MAY be able to use it as the outrigger. (exploring this option)

Haha it's way messy right now! But cheers :D

At this stage I'm planning on using some self amalgamating tape to wrap it. It's not adhesive so it doesn't stick to the wires, but it does use some sort of magic to adhere to itself, so if you ever need to unwrap it it doesn't leave a huge sticky mess behind.

Definitely not going through the frame rails as that would require drilling holes in my freshly powder coated frame... no thanks!  :dunno_white:  :icon_razz: It would be neat for sure though!

I need to keep rolling on it though, soon as it's mostly done I can hook a battery up and see all the pretty lights turn on and off...

may be messy but still i like it. the frame run was just a thought.  a pain in the butt but mainly a thought.  i was actually considering running the minimal amount of wiring thru the cows frame. along with the cabling for throttle and brakes. but idk. but it can be done at any point so might actually do it.

If I ever do the little Yammie YB100 sitting around the side of the house I'll be contemplating lots of things... the way the frame is on that running the wiring through it might be an option. It's a neat idea that I like, just the Kat frame is a bit too valuable to risk drilling holes in. The little YB is not valuable at all... it would get other things like a disc brake front end in place of the drum, maybe a big bore kit and a bigger carb, and a conversion from 6V to 12V... but that is all ideas in my head that may never see the light of day as it would come after the Kat, and then after the 450 gets a much needed tidy up as well.

contemplating doing same wire in frame idea on the cow. along with painting the engine shroud the same shade blue as frame. so the silve casee colour would go along with the ble frame with silver pinstripe i had added a ways back.

Do it! That's a good paint scheme  :thumb:

Still terminating wires... had to do a major redesign of the harness due to changing which Acewell dash I'm using... and then discovered last night I had both the left and right sides of the harness joining for the dash (thankfully before I started actually terminating any of those wires)... which would make it very difficult to remove from the bike...  :technical:

Will make some minor adjustments to fix that then all will be well

going to find some dark blue rustoleum spray bomb stuff. they make some versions which are made for plastic use.  it being a shroud i wonder if i should go hi temp.  ehh naah disregard that. when i test fired engine i could put my hand on the shroud. it would be warm but tolerable.

Make sure to use some plastic primer first, helps the paint be a little more flexible.

Discovered another wire I'd missed last night that the diagram had running down the right side of the bike... but was being terminated to the same connector as a bunch of stuff on the left side  :technical:

At least I discovered it before it was terminated and it's the same length either way, so easy fixed  :thumb:

I need to clean the shed up tomorrow so I have room to put the workbench back up and start on some fibreglassing. I need to do the repair on the front cowl in addition to starting a seat pan for a mate who wants a fastback style seat for his Kat. This will be in part payment for the tank and some other stuff which he gave me a while back.

I'll be very happy if I can keep the wiring going and do the glassing at the same time.

on a semi related note, there wsas a guy hailing from indonesia looking for a set of gs500 carbs.. i mentioned to him it would be EXPENSIVE to purchase and ship from us to his place. im assuming if he could locate a set of aussie carbs, wouldnt the cost be lower since distance is far shorter?.

The shipping costs *may* be a little cheaper... but we tend to pay a hell of a lot more for second hand parts here, so the price of the carbs will typically be more expensive. Having said that, GS500 stuff doesn't seem particularly expensive compared with other models like the Kat...

Got to try out my fork preload adjustments in anger yesterday, much better! Upped the damping on the rear shocks another setting on the way back too as they definitely felt a bit soft compared to the stiffer front end. Better again  :thumb:

For now it's off to the gym then I need to clean the shed out so I can get started on some fibreglass work... time to repair the front cowl and start working on the seat pan for my mate.

Tryingnto figure a solution for him if it comes down to that. Oh, maybe mid September will have the correct axle part in so I can proceed.

I spent my shed time committing a tidiness yesterday... gave me room to set the workbench up again so I can work on the harness or the fibreglassing without having to pack one or the other up  :thumb:

Before long you'll end up with a redneck addition. I.e..a workshop bigger than the house.

Still going on this harness... getting there slowly termination by termination... still lots to do... there's nothing really to photograph though as it still just looks like the same bunch of spaghetti...

Still quite spaghetti-ish... a lot done though. The left side is pretty sorted as far as terminating and splicing goes, and most in the electrics tray is done now also. The big thing now is figuring out how I'll run the control blocks so I can terminate those and that will then mean the bulk of it is done.

yay for wiring porn on bike porn lol. the cows wiring will be far simpler. a feed from the switch housing up front to engine for kill switch.  and if the magneto/ignition output is enough, may be able to run lights of the LED variety. at least for front.. hoping both.
