Hahaha I hear ya! Don't matter how fast you ride, as long as you ride right?  :thumb:

And Yama you may be restricted to the battlecow for now but at least you can ride it too right?  :thumb:

Got some confidence back with a decent Saturday morning ride yesterday so I'm feeling good again  :thumb:

Yes indeed!

Was having a chat with a mate on our Saturday morning ride and we came up with a potential solution.

There are some modern style frame sliders that mount by replacing the front engine mount bolt with a longer one, and the sliders go on each end. The catch with that is as I stated earlier that the left header is directly in the way of them.

However, if I were to make some new front engine mounts that were more square rather than triangular, that would allow me to mount those style sliders above the engine mount, moving them up and away from where the headers curve around. The only question is if they're long enough so they still hit the ground before the header does.

I'll likely be buying a set of those for the Kat anyway, so that would be an ideal time to do some measuring and calculating, and would therefore be done before the 450 refresh  :thumb:

was eyeballing the owie 450 pic, and what about a c shaped bar, connecting above ipe, over and around and reconnecting at frame below pipe?

That pic is the wrong angle to see... but the headers out the left there are in front of the frame rail as well as curving around where all the engine mounts are, so most options like that are obscured.

Probably the only stock-ish crash bars I can think might fit are the big rectangular ones but they're way too ugly...

Incidentally... test fit of the front cowl on Sunday to make sure it still fits after repair:

And the gearbox is dismantled with no extra nasty surprises so I'm ready to buy the bits to rebuild it now, although 2nd will need to be pressed on then welded.

Wow!
I completely forgot that once you built the battlecow you would have no more knee scooter.  :o

odds are ill make it 7 days lol. jury is still ut to 2019 but im a yearly optimist. going to probably pull the cows engine tomorrow. takes about 20 minutes. 2 wires from kill switch, 1 throttle cable, and 4 allen bolts. takes 20 cause i dont have any long allens, and have to undo rear mount to lift plate up. when i can ill grab a t allen, and knock the 20 down to maybe 10 to 15

Easy on/off will be handy, maybe come up with a bit of a quick release mechanism for it? That'll keep your brain busy during the cooler months when you can't ride it outside too  :thumb:

hell thought about a t typoe connection. a basic lock with bolt for tightening on engine side. but fwiw, an allen socket will work for now. cause with a qr, if even slightly loose it will vibe. those 4 strokes have some internal mass. lol its a heavy little piglet

Ah yes, it would have to be a solid quick release mount to work right!

Placed a parts order for the Kat yesterday at last... some bits not in stock so fingers crossed they're in the local warehouse and don't have to come from Japan, otherwise I'll have to be patient for a few weeks. I'm already excited too much for that!

Yes indeed! The anticipation is real... even though it's all up to me to get it done.

Order placed, almost got held up by one single lock washer that has to be back ordered from Japan but got that sorted to be sent whenever it arrives and the rest should be on its way on Monday, hopefully get it some time next week.

Now I'm getting excited again  :icon_mrgreen:
