Bugger having to sell the PC if it comes to it but getting some power under your butt will be handy for sure!

Guaranteed your powered wheels will be up and running before my Kat :D

Found a tiny AGM battery that fits easily in my battery box so now I can finish up the harness ready to hit the go button for the first time.

Front brakes are bled and feel great and got the push/pull throttle on the other day too.

And I test rode the 450 yesterday after sorting the starting motor and degreasing the motor to see if I'd fixed my oil leaks and... well... she cranks real easy and starts well now, and I solved one oil leak by the looks (the one from the oil filter cover), but there's definitely a second leak which is actually the stator cover gasket.

A while back after replacing the stator I found I'd missed some old gasket remnants that were stopping the gasket sitting nicely which caused weeping, so I guess removing the new gasket to clean it then reinstalling it has caused the issue... total PITA.

I've also noticed some of the new genuine gaskets are made of a material that is more resembling rubber or plastic which doesn't seem to work as well as the more cardboard like material. I have a mate with a Kat who's having major issues with genuine valve cover gaskets just not sealing like they used to, and they're made of the same material. My Cometic one is more like what I'd expect, so hopefully no issues with that.

Cheers guys!!

Got two big things sorted... oil pressure sensor cleaned and now appears to be working  :thumb:

And I got the coils hooked up and verified I have spark on all four plugs  :thumb: :woohoo:

Not gonna rush it but provided I can get the last few things sorted today/tonight I should be able to hit the go button for the first time tomorrow.

Must make sure the GoPro is charged up...

Sure is Showbiz!!! I'm an extremely happy chappy this evening... although no happy dance captured on video which is probably best for all concerned really...

Definitely needs some more open throttle time and a tune but it's alive!! I cut the video too soon... after this I cracked the throttle a bit more vigorously and not only does it sound great but the smoke started to clear.

And here's that walk around I promised ages ago but never delivered on...

I managed to re-key all three of the locks on the Kat yesterday so I can now use the brand new Kat fuel cap key on all three locks, was a lot easier than I ever thought it would be and no need to go see a locksmith now  :thumb:  :woohoo:

Pete do tell some details on that, por favor?  I have a zzr600 I'm piddling with and can't find a seat latch w/ key anywhere.  Could you give me some tips on how to?

This is the key one I found as the GSX1100 barrel I have for the ignition is essentially the same, and the Kat locks for the fuel cap and seat were also almost the same:

http://motorcyclememoir.com/wp-content/pdf/Ignition-switch-cylinder-tumbler-removal-and-repair.pdf

From what I can see most Japanese motorcycles without fancy shmancy ignition setups use a similar wafer style lock so in theory it should be helpful?

The tricky part is removing the roll pins if you have to do that. I had to remove three to get the GSX1100 ignition barrel out of the stock ignition housing and completely destroyed the housing as a result. I wasn't reusing it so I didn't particularly care.

The fuel cap had no roll pins so it was easy.

The seat lock had one roll pin and I really didn't want to destroy it as it's brand new. A small timber screw did the trick... threaded it in as much as I could to get a good grip, held it under the head as hard as I could with a solid set of pliers, then hit the pliers with a hammer to pull the roll pin out. I was shocked but it worked...

Horn mount sorted! Needs some paint and neater fasteners but it doesn't have to be removed to take the valve cover off  :thumb:

Wow 35AH, that's some serious battery capacity right there! Should do the job I would think?

The horn colour is semi-intentional... it looked like the sort of horn I wanted but one selling point was definitely the red :D

Had another win last night too! I couldn't get my rear M/C reservoir sight glass replaced and I figured the one I had was wrong, but a mate tipped me off that I probably had the old steel ring still in place. He was right! New glass in  :woohoo: :thumb:
