I have habanero growing and it's killer insane hot.  Out here peppers grow good, but the high temps and drought make the peppers grow hot.  Even the jalapenos get so hot I can't really take much.

My onions are great, and the carrots, beets and turnips are still growing.  Successful garden so far.

If you want to have fun at a mediocre garden center. go in and ask the person @ counter for cannabis sativa ( youd be surprised how many people would go look for it ( or get quite pissed when they googled it)
Might be legal to grow your own in WA. State is figuring out the regulations now that the voters legalized it in our state (feds are a little upset about that.)

.....why?! Nothing good comes out of ghost chilis. They don't even taste good. They just ruin your day, and a fair part of the next day too if your bowels move slowly.

Well, I gots me some GHOST's (Bhut Jolokia) just about ready. In a few more days they should be just right. My habs might be another week or so. I have some pretty hot jalapeno's coming in right now. My 7 year old had balls enough to eat 3 of them. The first two he and I ate where not that bad. The third....well my son went ape shlit. He had snot coming out his nose. He drank about a half gallon of milk and ran around the house for 15min with panic on his face. Milk and snot coming out his nose, mouth and ears all over the house. I owe him $2 for doing it  :icon_lol: He thinks he is a real man now :thumb:. I also bet him I would eat a ghost when the are ready. I'm not looking forward to it. Anybody got a home remedy for me to get rid of the heat?

I'm going to save some seeds from them so maybe I can get some out to some of you guys if you want them. If I get enough I can try to send some whole died peppers out.
Why are you looking here?

To get rid of the heat, don't drink milk. Swirl it around and spit it out. Overloading on dairy will cause more problems.

If you end up with some extra habs, I could take some off your hands. :thumb:

Awesome oldmech!! That's really cool you are shutting down the comp and spending time with the fam. Corn looks good, would love to grow some, but jess doesn't like it much, so i'll have to fight for the room haha

I've been busy lately as well, but the garden is growin' like crazy. Starting to produce too! A few tasty cucumbers, and just got our first bowl of green beans last night. Tomato's are starting to get ripe, just barely turning red so far. Peppers have small flowers, and the few cantaloups a friend gave us are starting to root it well.

Our broccoli isn't doing too hot, and our portable container tomato plants aren't doing too well either. Jess said they probably weren't the best type to be planted in containers.. I feel all the stuff we have in portable planters would be doing so much better if they were in the ground. Next year I think we'll till up the back yard and do a bigger garden. The front strip was a great starter/first garden for us. Showed that it really takes a lot of time, love, and dedication to keep it looking good. It really brings back great memories of helping my mom's dad in his garden.

I'll have to get some new photos, but here's a few i had uploaded a while back;

The first cuke we picked! Sliced and munched most of it, but made a couple cucumber sammies too

Cukes at the top, beans on right, and small clip of maters on the left

Baby beans

Jess told me not to post this one she said she looked 'goofy' but i'm doing it anyways!! haha

garden looks great steezn.. better than dang shrubs you gotta trim.
as promised here is a few pics of the garden.

heres some of the rasberrys, did well with all the rain.

the parsnip and pole bean jungle.

one of the cuke beds, might want to give your cukes something to climb.saves space.

some of the freaky oriental beans i planted with the pole beans..these buggers get 2 feet long.got the seeds from my boss. great in stir fries.

and finally a pic of my biggest garden pest. jackson my pup. he is looking at me either wanting a drink from the rain barrel or for me to get him a raspberry. either way he keeps the squirrels and rabbits under control and out of the garden.

dont forget fall is coming and it is a great time to grow lots of great greens. i get allot of collards, mustard and spinach thru november. heck i took my elderly neighbor a basket of mixed greens last january.
