Drive sprocket loose and wiggly

While removing the engine for the timing chain problem mentioned in another post, I noticed that my drive sprocket seems really loose and wiggly.  Is this normal after 10k miles?  I can't tell which have worn most, the shaft splines or the the sprocket splines.  Has anyone ever chrome plated the sprocket to get a tighter fit?

It should not be loose.  Replace it, don't chrome it, that won't last.  New ones are $15-20.

Be aware, this is not very wise advise!

Is that a sprocket with or without a hub on it?

It's the plain JTF 565.  The splines on the drive shaft look worn.  That circlip arrangement does not seem robust.  It should be held on with a castellated nut

Circlip does the job well.  Do you have the correct sprocket?  Some have a flange, others do not.  Make sure that you have the correct one for your model year.  Also, if the Circlip is worn, replace.

The 565 srocket is without hub, like I mentioned in thread linked above I ran those kind for many miles on my 97 without a problem but when I tried one on my 02 it was run with some rear wheel misalignment and got wobbly like you describe.  Best to use the 516 sprockets with hub on the 94 and later bikes.  Get a new sprocket with hub and see how it fits before you decide what to do, can't tell by just looking how worn spline shaft is.  Circlip is more than enough if the rear wheel is properly aligned.
