New SENA SMH10R for my Shoei X-11

So tomorrow were headed out for Bike Week in Panama City and I was happy to see my new SENA SMH10R helmet bluetooth came in today. 

Here are some pics. For those who want to know, $160 for the setup and another $80 for the Torx helmet speakers

Yeah but in my Shoei, there is no room for buds, even low profile buds. I tried. Plus, I do not like be tethered to my device. Another and most important reason is I do A LOT of my business with customers over the phone whether voice, text or emails. With this I can no longer miss calls but being able to answer them truly hands free as well as send texts with voice-to-text. I just finished installing it and it is insanely loud.

I read an article the other day that said that a study showed dictating a text using hands-free tech while driving is just as big a distraction as entering a text by hand. I'll post a link if I can find it again.

I'm of the opinion that all texting/dictation should be done only when not in control of a moving vehicle.

Sick setup weed! I'm going to look into something similar once I get a running moto and start riding a lot again. I hate feeling my phone vibrate and wonder if its important enough to pull over and answer

Does this setup tell you who's calling or just play the ringer through the speakers? Guess you could use custom ringers to know who's who..

I love my Seinheissers Addidas earbuds. They have little rubber wings that keep them in your ears even after removing a helmet. They are plenty loud enough and with a push of the button that is clipped to jacket I can get a call if I have too. But, usually I use them for music and noise cancellation. Waterproof too. Tested it accidentally in washer and dryer.

I'd say the majority of earphones/earbuds are resistant to water damage. In fact, the large majority of electronics are resistant to water damage, providing they aren't energized when submerged.

I use inside-the-canal type earbuds. I hate the ones that just sit in your ear. These (JVC Marshmallow) actually get pushed into your ear, and have fairly good sound isolation. Almost as much DB reduction as a pair of good earplugs.

I wear an HJC CS12



Fits me very snugly, and it's a challenge to get a pair of glasses/sunglasses on while wearing it.

Nope my helmets are Correct size medium. The Seinhausers fit into the canal and the wings fit inside the fold of my ear keeping them locked in. Even used them in my Shoie RF-1000. I had external speakers but they just hurt my ears due to column combined with wind noise. My ENT approved of these saying without music they were just as good as ear plugs.

I have a Nolan helmet with integrated bluetooth set-up. I mostly use it to listen to the radio on my commute but do take the occasional call. I like that it is recessed into the helmet so it doesn't really look like I have a bluetooth stuck to the side.

I always wear earplugs too, I just have the crank up the volume on the bluetooth and its perfect.

It rings a tone and you can use voice commands to control it, answer, disconnect, ect. I've been using this for quite some time now and love it.

Congrats  I just got the SMH10 and I love it!,  I decided to stop using the earbuds because it really killed my ability to hear what else was going on around me!    Even with the SMH10 all the way I can still hear my engine and other cars and horns and such.   and when I do get calls people have no clue that Im on a bike because the mic is noise cancelling.  Its a great setup!

Agreed. I've asked several people if and how well they could hear me and everyone said it was really good. I started to get a SMH10 but went the "R" version as it was more slim

i chose my model because it seemed to be easier to control with gloves on! the jog dial makes it super simple to change volume and tracks!

I thought so also but it's really easy to push the buttons and make changes. Either way, both are great devices and models
