Does anyone know how to add highway pegs to a fully faired GS500F?

I've seem someone do it on an older GS500E, but not an F. Has it been done before?

I've looked at doing it to mine.  It's definitely doable with some metal fab skill.  I've seen it done to similar bikes with fairings, but never a GS.

Be aware, this is not very wise advise!

put really long frame sliders on and use them?  ;) :D

When I broke the bolt on my R&G sliders, I replaced it with a slightly longer piece of all-thread so that they sort of work as highway pegs. Not the best solution because my feet slip off easily, but it can be nice to momentarily change foot positions.

Another option might be to install Renntec engine guards (the only one's that fit on the faired model) and then bolt up some of those universal pegs. I'm not sure if they would be far enough forward?

That's the best and easiest idea.

Here's a picture with the best option I think: http://cgi.stanford.edu/~sanjayd/gs500/uploads/Upgrades/oem_case_guards1.jpg
With some slight modification it looks like they would work!

EDIT: Ohh wait, I'm forgetting what the bottom of my bike is like! Would that fit?

In the pic you linked, the fairings cover that front portion of the bars.

Here is a thread which includes pics of the Renntec crash bars mentioned on an faired GS500.
