GS500F Arriving this week, what should I check on it?

Hey guys,

As the title says my bike should be arriving this coming week. I got it for real cheap but it has a reported knocking noise in the engine, I wanted to know what I should be looking for first when it arrives, so please lay some suggestions on me.

I am very hands on and have dismantled 3 other bikes previously so if I do find some sort of issue with the current engine I was thinking that I would do a write up/picture tutorial for people who wanted to do an engine swap on their bikes facing similar issues or just wanting to do a swap for other reasons.
