So through the grape vine and also playing on this website to many times late at night I know there are ways to beef up the gs500f motor. Now with that being said I cannot find the link to save my life! If anyone knows of how to improve the motor aka make it fast more torque whatever I am just sayin I wanna see what you guys can some up with. I have done all the suspension possible now I need advice for motor I already have pipe (two brothers) and k and n lunchbox along with re jet! Which buddah if you see this post I need you to create me an actual re jet kit because the people who did it officially f%&ked with my motorcycle it wont idle properly ect so some little help needed here people!

HID
fenderectomy
bar ends
two brothers exhaust
Lunchbox
Stage 2 jetting
R6 rear shock
shorty levers (black)
Flat black
1.0 sonic front springs

Timing advance (DIY) and only other thing off the top of my head that makes a difference is dropping a tooth on the front sprocket, just depends on the type of riding you do as your rpm will be higher obviously

Big bore kit. Or find a GR650 motor.

Explain more to me about this gr650 motor swap and also what all does it entail to do?

Buddha has done it (don't know how far along it is though). I have a complete / running GR650 and no GS500,  so I can't help with the transplant. Except for the following : the GR motor is taller, shorter front to back, and the exhaust doesn't look like the 500's at all. So you would be looking at a custom exhaust and motor mounts at the minimum.

nearly identical. cept teh 650 head angles toward frame, while gs head is straight out. buddha could elaborate. IIRC he was attempting this.

I hate to be That Guy, especially as someone who's currently resurrecting a GS500, but I have to wonder: why? For all the time and effort and expense of finding and transplanting a rare engine into a GS500 frame to pick up a few horsepower, I think you'd be far better off just buying a used SV650. It's an altogether better chassis, has more power stock than the GR650, and has a huge aftermarket with many tuning options that will give you significantly more power than a stock SV.

To me part of the magic of the GS500 is an efficient, solid, reliable motor paired with a sturdy beam frame in an affordable commuter bike which can be modified to handle far better than it does stock. It seems counterproductive to try and shoehorn in a slightly more powerful air-cooled twin that doesn't really want to fit at all.

Anyway, does anyone know how much power the GR650 really produces? The advertised factory HP for the GR650 is 50hp, and the GS500E claims 52, so... why?

Exactly.  But there's always someone that can't resist trying to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.

Ive only ever read that there are some improvements to be made with the gs500 motor .... But that none of them really beef it up! ... Couple horsepower tops..... Plus then there usually seems to be a whole heap of niggles and tuning issues and fiddles about to do... To keep it ticking sweetly....

You wanna get the gs500 to go faster .... Invest in advanced riding courses so you can actually wring all the performance out of it......  But will it ever keep up with your mates litre bike on the drag strip? .. No! ..... Get into some twisty stuff though and with the right skills it could be you leading the group!

:woohoo:

Some people are just tinkerers. If I had a GS500 frame, I would be stuffing one of my GR motors into it. Anyways, not the point...

Which is also why I'll be building a 500 motor for my 450, and eventually a 527 (?) motor for the same bike.
