Hey everyone, got a question I hope you can help me with...

I'm looking to change the chain and sprockets (front & back) this weekend on my 2001 GS. I ordered the parts from a local shop, but the chain I got indicates that its for dirtbikes and ATVs. The person I spoke with at the shop said that it would be fine, but I wanted to get your thoughts.

Here's the chain:

Will this work? Any negatives to using this chain? if so then I'll return it and find another.

I use the same chains on my GS500, no issues at all for me.  Just do the usual lube and tension and should be fine. :thumb:

Any 520-110 chain is OK.
That one looks just fine.

i beg to differ with you there guy... i cant remember the manufacturer but i did purchase a 520-110 chain for pretty cheap. it was non o-ring and had a low tensile strength apparently. i would adjust my chain, PROPERLY mind you, and go for a ride and before i even got home the chain would need adjusting again. by that i mean chain slapping swingarm on downshifts.

key point is TENSILE STRENGTH. i would say anything over 6000 lbf will be just fine.

Well, I do mean any good chain. O-ring or better.
I tend not to think much about going cheap so I didn't mention to avoid the cheap crap.
