for sale here is a brand new 2012 yamaha r6 rear shock with bolt and sleeve. plug and play for the gs500 (except commifornia model with  Evaporative Canister ) shock was pulled off a brand new r6, see pics for condition.

So... I could just bolt this in? Will I increase ride height? Is it adjustable? Sorry, I know nothing; but my front end is bottoming out and when I replace front springs, I may as well raise and stiffen the rear a bit. ??

yes you can swap out your stocker and this shock goes right in. great upgrade if you already did the front springs.
the best part is this shock can go in from the bottom when you do the installation, instead taking off bunch of parts from the top as shown in the youtube link.

Yes, that is correct.  R6 model years 2010 and up have a smaller shock reservoir than previous years.  You are able to install the newer ones without removing the airbox as shown in the video, but either will fit and both perform the same.

I watched the video at work with no sound. Did I see that the installation requires removing some part of the swingarm?

since this shock goes in from the bottom where the stock one drops out, all you have to loose is the top bolt and two dog bone that connects the bottom bolt, very easy to swap. the youtube shows the installation for a 2006 shock, much more work because it can only be dropped in from the top.

The linkage bracket it not important.
The bolt however is, and it comes with that.
Its just the price of the R6 shocks are ridiculous since demand went up.
They are really only worth around $100 secondhand delivered.
I paid $60 for mine before demand went up to a stupid high and I think slipperymongoose only paid $20 something for his.

**NOTE**
It's not plug and play. You will need to grind a little bit off your swing arm or the bottom of the spring will rub it. You will need to R6 bolt collar and bolt in place of the stock GS ones.

This is incorrect information Pliskin.
I installed the Red Spring R6 Shock and DID NOT have to grind the swingarm for it to fit properly (Not all bikes require the grinding).
The Silver/Black R6 shock has a smaller spring and should not interfere with the swingarm at all.
