Hey guys. I'm preparing to add some closed cell foam to my seat but am having difficulty finding short enough staples. I have a T50 Arrow stapler but the shortest staples I can find are 1/4 inch leg staples. The ones I have removed are about half that long. I don't want to have staples sticking out the other side. Cannot find a source online for short leg staples. Has anyone redone their seat with 1/4 inch ones?

I know it may sound stupid but do you think grinding the staples down would work? I mean I'd assume it would but Idk for sure.

If you're not using a pneumatic staple gun, it won't really make a difference. A spring loaded gun doesn't have enoughpower to get them in all the way.

That being said, I've used a spring loaded gun and 1/4" staples before. But I had to take a ball peen hammer to crush every staple down.

It's opener there in the wide open air...

I actually did try grinding them down. They separated from the rest of the stack and were almost impossible to load into the gun. The one I did get in there didn't have a chisel edge to it, so it didn't penetrate the plastic. The gun I have has plenty of grunt to get the 9/16 pnes I already have fully seated and poking out the other side.

I added foam to my seat and used standard spring staples, but I found that unless you get a nice good straight pressure, I had to do what Big Rich said, just peen them a bit.

That was what I ended up doing. T50 1/4 inchers most of the way in, then sent them home with steady pressure on a screwdriver tip. Did the trick.
