A lot of good comments sprinkled throughout this thread.

.  The ones I KNOW to steer clear from are the HI Flo filters, everyone gets their mixture messed up with those.

Was unaware of this? Others having this issue? I have one with stock jets...don't believe there's a problem..

Well that be good news for you lol.  It could be a quality problem... its tough to say one product is all bad, when inherently, we will normally only hear about the problems people are having from a product on a site such as this...  Because if it wasn't broke, they would be out riding!

The issues I've read repeatedly about them is that folks get conflicting mixture issues... such as it will be lean at idle, but rich up top (or vice versa)... super hard to diagnose from descriptions when the symptoms conflict with each other, and would be a real pain to try and rejet if that's where you resorted to.  But if its working for you, don't mess with it!

Same reason why most people put the restrictor ring on the K&N drop-in filter; the jetting can be tuned for it to run great without the restrictor, but it's been somewhat uncharted waters.

Planning on adjusting my valves this Thursday, had a bit of an erratic idle today since it was a bit colder. Wanted to upload a video and see what you guys have to say..

There is a slight noise at idle, although I'm not sure if it's a "ticking" noise that everyone associates with out-of-spec valves.

Any input would be appreciated, thanks!  :)

You should be able to hear the slight ticking, or high pitched noise.

The noise could be a few things, use a long screw drive with the handle up to your ear to pinpoint where it is comming from.... than go from there.

What happened if your signal is off like it should be dose the idle change. To be honest I only seen ~200 rpm increase which isn't terrible. I wouldn't lose any sleep over it but start checking things

One thing about a bike that hasn't been used much or simply a new bike to you is.... RIDE A LOT!
Bikes need to be ridden. They settle in to what they are after a while THEN you can make adjustments.
If had not used much, valves and clutch and everything else changes as you start to ride her a lot.
Do oil change. Ride. Let things settle in and work their way in with new oil THEN do adjustments. Give a hundred miles or more.
When we build or restore a bike here, sometimes the motor and carbs have been sitting for a couple years. We get the bike running so we can ride. We break it in for a week or two or a hundred miles or so then we know what needs to be adjusted.
All motors make ticks, clicks and their own sounds. Motors can change sounds under load, temperature or RPM or new gas. Go a while to learn what your motor does then you will know what to do.
Check the plugs after 100 miles and see if running lean or rich. Then you can do valves and carb sync and she will purr like a kitten. If bike had a bad PO or not ridden much, plan on a second oil change after 100 to 200 miles. The first oil change consider it washing out the motor. The second one drains out the first oil's crud that loosened up. (At least that's what we do around here).
