ok guys here's the scenario.

i just did an engine swap, all 07f internals with the 01e frame. the wirings are all connected, except for the headlights, front signals, front brake lights, tail lights, and rear tail lights.

so i tried starting the bike last night, no luck. when i turn the ignition key on, one of the lights that's hooked up (side light i think) lights up. however, the bike will not fire up when the starter switch is pressed. there's a clicking sound that comes from the battery instead.

the only key culprits i'm thinking of right now are either one or both of the GROUNDER WIRES. One of them goes to the battery, the other one goes to?? i was under the impression that it could attach to any metal attached to the frame.

secondly, i may have to do a spark plug test to make sure it's good... but other than these i'm clueless and thought one of you guys could give me some clues.

cliffs:
- motor turns manually but bike won't start with starter switch.
- all wirings are connected except lights.
- i have 2 main grounder wires, one coming from the starter motor and the other i'm not sure. where do these connect? which one to the battery?
- side light switch turns on when key is turned. the battery clicks whenever the starter switch is pressed.

Are you sure it's not the starter relay that's clicking?  It's generally mounted on the frame next to the battery box.

If the starter relay clicks but doesn't engage the starter motor there are a few possible scenarios:
1) The battery is dead and doesn't have enough power to kick the starter motor. -- What voltage do you get from the battery?  below 12V is dead, fully charged is around 12.6-12.8 V.
2) The wiring for the starter motor isn't connected right; this could very likely be due to a bad ground, but also check the positive supply through the relay.
3) The starter motor could be bad; though this is the least likely.

Big ass ground wire goes to the motor. Tiny ground plugs into the wiring harness.
Did you connect the wire from the starter relay to the starter motor?
