Need to go to the Roseburg/Canyonville area next week.
Thinking of...

1. Ride with US group and break off in Oregon as they go on to CA.
2. Fly to Redmond, OR then rent a BMW F650GS for 4 days
3. Fly to Eugene then rent a car

What to do?

Anyone in Portland? Since my mother now lives in a home down there, I COULD ride to Portland. Stay the night. Continue on. Then reverse on the return trip. As long as she is still a kickin', I'll now be making this trip like 6 times a year.
(At 93, time is not on her side, unfortunately.)

Google says about 4 hours from Redmond to Canyonville.
Also says bout 6 hours from Seattle to Canyonville.

Doesn't make sense to rent a bike to save 2 hours.

Is there a bike rental in Eugene? I could fly there then its an hour and a half to Canyonville. So? Anyplace to rent a bike in Eugene?

Motorcycle rental called back. They're south of Bend so 2 hours to Canyonville which makes it quite do-able. Fly to Redmond. They pick me up. Ride bike to see mother and get birthday presents. Ride back roads each day for an hour or two then return bike and fly home.

Opinions?

Any route with a bike is better than caging it.  Although, this one above sounds like something I'd sign up for!

Never heard from anyone that lives along the way (Portland, Eugene).
So I'm flying to Redmond, OR.
The shop is an hour south. They pick me up. I ride a BMW F650GS for 4 days then return it and they take me back to the airport.
Should be fun. Now I don't have to spend 24/7 with my brother, wife and mother.
Hope my helmet fits in the overhead bins.
2 hours of twisties between their shop and my brother's.

The UW Huskies group is camping, so I didn't feel like doing that: ride with them on their trek to CA then break off in Oregon.

Having good rides. Wish someone was here to ride tomorrow for my birthday ride.
Tuesday I will ride from Myrtle Creek to Bend if anyone is along the route.
