Hello, I'm new to the forum and sort of new to riding motorcycles and I was wondering if anyone has ever changed the main fuse on the gs500f? I am pretty sure I blew mine and I have found what I think is the spare in a rubber enclosure ? It looks as though I have to take the rear fairing off but do not want to permanently damage any of the fairings haha   Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks

Welcome to the forum, many of is have removed the faring it is rather simple, remove the seat, remove the grab bar 2 bolts, remove the faring bolts 4 bolts, and pull it off the the river insulators. It's very simple.

I have changed the fuse on the side of the road before with out removing it, just takes some effort an a pocket knife =)

Do you know why your fuse blew ?

I changed my fuse last month and just took a couple bolts out of top and pulled the bottom pegs of the side panel out of the rubber grommets and had plenty of room to get at it without removing any rear body work.  My 02 GS has same rear body work as F models.

Yeah, I believe when I tried jumping it from a battery (that was not hooked up to a car) that I may have done it trying to start the bike at the same time.  Right after I tried to jump it, nothing. No lights no nothing. I was trying to get to it but i cannot for the life of me figure out how to do it without removing the fairing haha

Just pull it off it only takes 5 minutes, than you'll be able to do it next time with out pulling it off
