Idle Mixture Screw Issues

I finally got a chance to work on my GS this weekend and got the carbs reassembled. It started up almost immediately and I spent a good amount of time messing with the choke and throttle/idle screw. I wasn't able to put the choke all the way in without it dying. I shut it off and went to restart it a little bit later, however it is now running incredibly rich, so much that it will struggle to idle and die almost immediately.

When I took the carbs off to double check the float height and the idle mixture screws, there was a visible amount of fuel on the rubber boot going from the carb to the engine. The carbs are currently off of the engine, however one idle mixture screw does not go in nearly as far as the other side. I tried to swap the mixture screws, but that didn't solve anything. I'm assuming that the mixture screws will both bottom out in the carb at a visibly equal point, but I figured I'd double check here anyways. If they are supposed to be roughly the same height, it looks like I might have to try running a tap through and cleaning up the threads.
